Documents to have together before meeting with banker

Hi everyone! We are planning on meeting with a banker in the next month or so to see how much we are able to be pre-approved for. With that being said, what documents should I get in order before meeting with the banker? Thanks to everyone in advance!

Re: Documents to have together before meeting with banker

  • For pre-approval we just needed to tell them our salaries and what we had saved up.  They asked for our social securites for the credit check and that was it.

  • Like pp, we didn't need any documents. Be prepared to tell them your socials, salaries, how long you've been at your current jobs, and how much cash you have to work with.
  • I guess maybe we were over prepared or maybe our bank is different but they asked us to bring two months of pay stubs, last years tax returns and balance print outs for our banks.

This was pretty much what we were asked to bring, plus of course SSN for credit checks.

  • Was it for a conventional loan? We are probably going to do the FHA loan.

Was this for conventional or FHA loans? We are looking at an FHA loan, more than likely.

  • ID, social security cards, two months of pay stubs, the previous year tax return, and two months of bank statements.

That was for pre-approval. We considered conventional, FHA and USDA. Ended up with USDA.

We did not need to provide any further documentation during our loan process.

ETA: We got our pre-approval through a local credit union at first. They don't work with the USDA mortgages so we ended up with Chase through a mortgage broker that partners with the credit union. Since they partner together, we didn't have to re-submit anything. The credit union just sent everything to the broker.

We did a 30 year conventional with 20% down.

  • ask your loan officer. we did pre-approval all over email, and each loan officer/mortgage broker we did it with sent me a list of the specific docs they needed.

Same.  Not sure what FHA requires.
