Not in a Good Place Right Now

Have you ever felt helpless, sick to your stomach, and want everything to just stop in your life - work, relationships, friendships, etc? I feel that way and I just want it all to end right now. I hate feeling this wy. Ugh. No I won't do anything stupid - I am just feeling very overwhelmed right now. Nothing seems to be working to help. Prayers, happy thoughts, nothing. I have an appt with counselor next week I think - thank god.

Re: Not in a Good Place Right Now

  •  Please consider these. Next week isn't soon enough for a counseling appt. Please call them and tell them you need to get in ASAP.

     from the TIP resources page:

    Suicide Hotline--1-800-273-8255 http://www.suicidepreventionlifeline.org/

(honestly, even if you're not at that point, please consider picking up the phone if nothing else, just to chat to somone that can be a good ear)

    http://www.crisischat.org/

This might be particularly helpful for the types that visit message boards :o)

It is run in a similar format to the National Suicide Prevention hotline - in fact in my town the same volunteers do both crisis chat and the lifeline (not on the same shift, though!). They can help connect you to resources in your area and more than anything, can be a safe person to confide in when you feel you don't have anywhere else to turn.

  • Does your work have an EAP program? I was having a bit of anxiety last week about some things (I have way too much on my plate at the moment) and I learned that one of my work benefits is an EAP program that has call-in therapists, and they aren't only for emergency situations like suicide prevention. I chatted with a lovely counselor for about half an hour over the phone on my lunch and she was great at helping me find a different way to look at what was causing me to get anxious.

EAP? It stinks - it's only me, the stingy boss, and one other girl that work here. Sounds like a good program there though.

  • I think it stands for Employee Assistance Program. We get counseling, financial advice, legal advice and discounts and a whole slew of other perks from it. Your college may have something similar if you are part of their alumni association.

I will check into that. I am apart of the alumni association.
