Ack!!! Cut my yarn too short after crochet project= unraveling.

I used to crochet quite a bit, but took a very LONG hiatus until a few months ago. Guess I'm still getting back into the swing of it...

I've been crocheting a wool diaper soaker. I finished the body of it, did one leg, and went to the other side to begin the leg. I know better than this, but for whatever reason instead of tucking my yarn from the beginning into the diaper, I cut it. WHY DID I DO THAT? When I went to stitch that side up, the first thread popped out and it started to unravel. I think I lost a stitch, but I've caught it by a tiny piece (about 1 cm). Is there a way to fix this so that my whole project isn't a wash? :(

Re: Ack!!! Cut my yarn too short after crochet project= unraveling.

  • By the way... its the beginning of the project that I cut. If it were at the end, I know I could just undo some of the stitches, join in new yarn, and redo the last bit of the project, but is there a fix for the beginning?

  • With only 1 cm to play with, I honestly can't see how you'd rescue it.  A felted join might be possible if you had more to work with, but I'm sorry to say that at this point you might just have to consider it a lesson learned.  Sorry!
I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • Thanks for your reply!

I undid a few more stitches (eek!) and was able to kind of tie it in. Its uneven on the side where I had to undo the other stitches and likely won't last "forever", but I felt better about that just calling it quits ... And it did at least survive trying it on DD over another diaper... Definitely a lesson learned--the hard way. :)
