I need some help. Very serious issue.

My bottom right eyelid will.not.stop.twitching.  It's been going on for a couple of months now and if I don't get some relief soon, I might commit murder.

Increased sleep and hydration has not helped.

This is my siggy.

Re: I need some help. Very serious issue.

  • I have no advice for you other than that sucks, dude. Sucks. I hate the eyelid twitching. When I get it, it always lasts a few days and clears up on its own. Are you extra stressed lately? When it's gotten really bad, I've done both a hot or cold eye mask, with varied results. Have you tried anything like that?
    Oh, FFS.
  • Have you switched any of your eye make up?  I had a mascara that caused my eye to twitch.  Switched mascaras and the twitching stopped.
  • (Lurker here.) The same thing was happening to me a few months ago, and it turned out to be a sinus infection. Mine had been twitching for at least a month. I thought it was just stress. I had no other symptoms until I woke up one day feeling like death and knew it was a sinus infection at that point. I googled it & found that lower eyelid twitching is a sign of inflamed sinuses. Once I got on meds for the infection, the twitching stopped.
  • My eye twitched pretty much my whole senior year of high school, it's the worst. Sometimes when I am really tired and/or stressed, it happens, and since I was tired and stressed that whole year, I've always assumed that's what brought it on.

Are you stressed?? Even if you are getting enough sleep, stress can still cause twitches.

  • Stress? Do you take any medications?
  • Huh.  I never would have thought of inflamed sinuses.  I feel fine and don't have allergies.  Maybe I'll try some Claritin or something.

I have been stressed lately, but it's only been recent.  Up until the last week or so, life has been good.  Damn job, always interfering in my shiit.  Operation: Be Independently Wealthy is still unsuccessful.

ETA: I don't take any meds other than BC.

    This is my siggy.
  • Do you ingest a lot of Equal?

  • I knew someone who went to the dr for this and they were told to cut back on the caffeine.

Nope.  I'm also not a big coffee/tea drinker (to the caffeine question).

    This is my siggy.
  • I'm a lurker but eyelid twitching could also be caused by shortage of potassium, on top of stress and sleep deprivation. I usually eat a few bananas and try to get some more rest and it goes away.

  • Caffeine is what did it to me.
  • This is going to sound crazy, but black tea bags. Steep them in warm water and put them over your eyes. It helped me before, and smells good. :)

My H had the same issue. He finally figured out (as in last month) that it was all the caffeine he drank daily.
