Recommend your eyeshadow primer - NOT UD

I've been using the UD primer for a while and it just doesn't work that well on me. I'd like to get a new primer with the Ulta discount - any recs? Too Faced, Benefit?

Re: Recommend your eyeshadow primer - NOT UD

  • It seems like the majority of people are split between UDPP or TFSI, so even though I don't have personal experience, maybe try the Too Faced?

  • I'm using up my UD primer but I wouldn't purchase it (mine came with the UD Naked pallette).  I actually prefer my $3 ELF brand.

  • Where did you find the ELF eye primer? I have looked at both Targets in town and NO luck and we don't have an Ulta here. SIGHS.

  • I like trish McEvoy's eye shadow primer.

Oh bummer. I got mine at a Target store here. You could probably order online if you wanted to.  This little number looks nice http://www.target.com/p/e-l-f-Eye-Primer-Set/-/A-13908795

If you have a RED debit or credit card you get free shipping, no price minimum... I shop a ton at Target so that's why I have one.

  • I got a Benefit gift box that has Stay don't Stray. It works...not as well as UDPP though.

    you can also order from ELF's website - I think it's eyeslipsface.com

  • I like Palladio Herbal Eyeshadow Primer. You can get it at Ulta.

  • I really like my Too Faced Shadow Insurance. I also have Benefit's Stay Don't Stray, but I really don't like the texture of it.

  • I used to used MAC's paint pots, once I am done with what I am using now ELF I will repurchase.
  • Lorac Behind the Scenes Eye Primer is amazing.  I've tried almost all the other brands mentioned in this post and none of them really worked well for me.  I got this as a sample and it is awesome, I just ordered a full size.

  • I used Smashbox for awhile and loved it. I've seen quite a few bloggers use Too Faced Shadow Insurance in Lemon Drop.
  • I really like Too Faced Shadow Insurance.  Bare Escentuals primer is really nice, too.
  • I like the ELF one. For me, It worked just as good as the UDPP.
  • UDPP works okay on me. I like Smashbox's but I love Too Faced the best. I received a sample of Kat Von D's eye shadow primer and I loved the consistency but it creased a lot faster on me. ELF was horrible for me. My eye shadow started creasing by noon.

Another one I'd consider trying is Mary Kay's. I haven't used it in years but it was the first primer I tried and it was life-changing! BUT, it's been so long I can't really say how it compares to others.

  • I've been using Nars pro-prime smudge proof eyeshadow base for a few months.  I really like it.

I switched from Stay don't Stray to UDPP. I don't think the Benefit one is as good as UD.

  • I like Laura Mercier's primer and have also used MAC Paint Pots which work great as well!

I've been using a sample of this, and I like it. For some reason, UDPP and TF Shadow Insurance have both started creasing on me lately. I don't have oily eyelids, but it's been extremely humid here. Sad, because I have a ton of UDPP in 3 different shades.

  • I liked Smashbox. I think I'm going back to it after I run out of the UD primer I have.
A big old middle finger to you, stupid Nest.
  • I currently have: Benefit Stay Don't Stray, Too Faced and UD. I only like Too Faced. The others don't seem to work too well for me.
  • I just realized I also have one by Nars, but I'm indifferent to it.
