I want your thoughts about moving the board.
Seriously.
I'm so sick of TN and all of their rules changes and lack of regard for privacy.
We can move to something like Proboards and govern ourselves. Helll, the new off-board WC even has a no lurking policy. You have to post at least once a month or you get deleted off the board. We can leave a sticky up on this board so newbies can still join us on the off board, if desired.
You can even design sub boards and such.
I've joked about this a little, but I think it's time to start considering it as more of an option. Several of us have changed our SNs because of this mess, others hesitant to post, etc.
Honest feedback welcome. Yay? Nay?

Lol...I looked but didn't reply. I don't feel I really can provide an opinion on this. I just got here, and I think the decision should be left up to those of you who have been active here for awhile.

Actually, you can't. NGs delete them- the reason the WC post kept up so long was because they were between staff members- and they have a new Nestie full timer now. My local went to an offboard too and it isn't that great, and people have difficulties with getting timely approvals, etc. even when you've got really active people keeping it up. Plus, someone is constantly going to be checking back here. And you have to already know someone or be in touch with someone off board to even get into the offboard, which is fine for everyone has been here for 5 years and who is FB friends but excludes a fair portion of the board as well.
IDK, I'm not all up in arms about the changes the way other people are- ProBoards have a lot of the same content rules about what you post becomes their property (these are also standard internet disclosure and agreements when you sign up for any sort of account). You don't control everything just because it is an offboard. You're still on the internet and should still use the same level of decorum and personal discretion that you would on any site.
People should understand that anything you put out there at any time can become public knowledge.
If everyone goes to an offboard, that's cool, I'll probably post there occasionally. I understand the added privacy concerns, but it also seems like they have a full time staff here to keep up with feedback, and I have yet to see anyone when we have issues or questions on the DC ProBoard.

Yeah, but Proboards doesn't have buttons for liking things on FB and isn't pinning things and linking back to private posts, either.
I guess the basic list of pros/cons are as follows for me:
Pros:
I like the ProBoards mobile app
I know the people who are close will stay in contact
Maybe some people will have more peace of mind for privacy reasons
Cons:
Exclusion
Violations of TOS for posting the other board here
I think we'll lose content (and we were just getting better)
ProBoards are ugly
I lurk/post other boards here for interesting stuff (ie: crafts, f&b, etc.)

Yes, you may stay now. And I think newbie opinions are still valid! Why the change in SN? You wigged out about non-existant nest privacy too?
Actually I have wanted it changed for a long time. I didn't like that it was my last name. When I signed up for TB I had no idea the boards existed. I just though I would be reading articles about baby info, and what not. Turns out I ended up pretty active on the boards. I never thought my name would be all over the place.
But, I couldn't get it changed, despite multiple e-mails. Until today, when everyone is freaking out about privacy and TB/TN is feeling generous.
Although it was a bit of a concern to have my first name show up on someones FB profile should someone like it (but why would someone, that's kind of weird) and then link to a profile with my last name.

Honestly, I haven't really been paying attention to the changes other than what people have been griping about... I fear, though, that if we have a change in scenery and bring this board elsewhere it may die down worse than when it did the TK ---> TN conversion.

You know, I feared that with WC, but we're WAY more active over on the offboard. But we also got a lot more personal, rather than just talking about food all the time.
Again, just my two cents. If the consensus is to stay, I'll stay, of course. Just throwing it out there...
I'm fine with whatever. If you ladies want to create an offboard, I'll tag along. I'm still going to come back here anyways though, because I do post on other boards as well.
I think with the amounts of complaints that have been floating around with the FB, Pin buttons, etc.. that TN might just remove them. And like the Nest gods mentioned yesterday, the buttons have been on the profiles for years and no one has complained until now. Just because they're there doesn't mean that anyone actually uses them.
Other feedback on ProBoards- they've been slow and sticky today, and now my local is down (
) If we're going somewhere else, can we at least please pick somewhere that is a tech improvement?

I haven't personally used it, but it looks good
Just as the other have said, I will go where everyone else does.
Another option is activeboard. My local uses this and it's not all that bad.
