Using a vacuum on pet hair - Does your vacuum smell?
I have a central vac , and the cannister is in my garage. There is never any odor in my house or in my garage when I use the central vac.
My vacuum carpet head broke, so I used my Dyson animal. ( I normally use my Dyson upstairs only and my dogs are not allowed upstairs)
When I used it to vacuum the room where my dogs sleep, the air was filled with "doggy" smell. Also, when emptied the dyson, the smell was strong. This is new to me - is this typical of using a regular vacuum?
Re: Using a vacuum on pet hair - Does your vacuum smell?
It may be time to clean the filter. I have the dyson "all floor" of something like that and only recently realized there are two filters not just the main one.
we have two dogs and when vacuuming and i smell the doggy smell it means it's time to clean the filters
Yes. It's horrible. I put a few drops of essential oil in it when it smells doggy and that works for a few months.
It's my pet peeve when we are having guests and I vaccuum too close to arrival time... I'm thinking 'omg does my house smell like chow chow bum?'
Our Dirt Devil will smell like a kennel when it's time to change the bag filter. As soon as the new one is in, it stops stinking up the joing.
