Boot Camp Assessment

Today was the first day of my second consecutive session of Boot Camp  I also did a session back in August.  They always do an assessment on the first day that includes push ups, plank, and a mile run.  I am extremely proud to say that I improved in all 3 areas.

Push Ups-from 10 to 14 (1 minute)

Mile-7:52 from 8:47

Plank-3:30 from 3:15

Now if I could only improve on the measurements...I feel like I've been working my tail off, but I didn't lose a single fraction of an inch anywhere!  The cardio and weight training is intense, and I seldom skimp out or modify exercises.  My diet isn't perfect, but I'm definitely very conscientious about what I eat and drink.  My splurges include an occasional sweet tea and a baked potato.  I have to admit this part of the assessment makes me sad, but I guess it gives me even more incentive to work hard for the next 6 weeks.

Re: Boot Camp Assessment

  • How tall are you and how much do you weigh? It could be that you don't have anything to lose.
  • That is great!  I liked the assessments at my boot camp too; I loved seeing the real numbers.  I had a kickass first session and lost inches like crazy...2 on my waist, 2 on each of my thighs, etc.  It was nuts.  Then things leveled out and I gained a little.

Weight loss didn't pick up again until I really kicked my eating into gear.  It sucked.  I really thought I was being good, and I really didn't want to work harder at that.  I kept telling myself that running and boot camping every day of the week should be enough to let me eat anything, but the results showed that it clearly wasn't true.

I started boot camp in late October at 136 pounds.  At the end of the first four-week session, I was 129.  Then I went back up to 133.  Now that my eating is better, I'm down to 122, with a goal of 120.  The majority of this loss has been in the past month, since really taking charge of my food intake.

It's not always fun...but it really is worth it.

I have to agree with this. I just finished 6 wks of bootcamp and didn't lose a single pound or any body fat. However I can run two miles where I couldn't run to the corner previously and I'm so much stronger than before. It's hard not having anything to show for all the hard work. I know!

Now in my second session of bootcamp I've started eating very clean. Eggs for breakfast, tuna for lunch with a green salad, lean meat and a green for dinner, protein shakes for snacks and finally I'm seeing the weight come off. Hang in there. It will come!

  • I'm 5'3 and 136 pounds.  I definitely have a layer of fat around my middle that needs to come off.  My hip measurement is 39!  I feel like a Sir Mix A Lot song...

Thanks ladies for the support!  On the way home today, I raided the produce department.  I bought fresh green beans, zucchini, asparagus, apples, strawberries, and carrots.  I've been eating big beautiful salads for lunch with turkey breast on top, drinking LOTS of water, and snacking on bananas.  Hopefully I can keep this up in addition to Boot Camp and running.  6 weeks to go...
