Allegiant Air Question

I realize that airfares are very unpredictable... but in your experience, once a fare has increased on Allegiant, is it ever likely to go down again? We're planning a Vegas trip in October and so I've just started watching prices.  Last week I saw a  pretty good deal, but it has since doubled in price. Just wondering if it's a lost cause ha!

Re: Allegiant Air Question

  • Allegiant's air usually starts high when it's first released, then dips, then goes back up. Not sure when they released for October, but if they just did, then you may want to wait. I usually only fly Allegiant for Xmas and I have found over the last 3 years, the prices seem very high at first, then they level out, then they start climbing around the 3-4 month mark. Their pricing is the kind that goes up as the plane fill up.

  • just noticed you are in Omaha! We use Allegiant to fly from AZ to Grand Island. So, when I look at pricing, Grand Island is what I look at :)

  • In my experience with watching Allegiant fares, they can fluctuate so much from day to day, both up or down.  So for you, I wouldn't say it's a "lost cause", you still have lots of time, I'd wait.

  • Off topic but related: I read they're now charging $35 for a carry-on bag.  Assholes.

  • Thanks for the tips, ladies. Guess I won't give up yet - although it's going to have to be a really good price now to make up for that carry-on fee! I honestly don't see what the allure of flying a "discount" airline is anymore when their fares are actually higher than other airlines and they have more upcharges...
