My tri coach has offered to sell me her wetsuit. She doesn't have time to compete anymore and its just taking up space. I have borrowed it twice so I know it fits. It is at least 3 years old and she bought it for 280. She is offering it to me for 1/2 off so for 140. My DH thinks that is way too much. I kind of do too. How do I tactfully do this?
Re: Used wetsuit price...
Why do you say it's too much? Have you compared it to other prices?
I think its too much. my last wetsuit was used - it retailed for $300 and I bought it for $50. I still have it actually - I would give it to you! Are you short, by chance?
My new wetsuit was on sale for $150. If you want to spend $150, you can find really good deals (watch Swaggle deals, they just had half off wetsuits!)
ETA: she probably peed in that wetsuit at every race, lol. when my bought my wetsuit from friend, i always teased her that i was swimming in her old toilet, HA! use that for negotiation!
I got my Xterra wetsuit that retailed for $300 on sale for $100. I'd offer lower.

Yeah, we have found several for 150 brand new......
Gumiberg....that is too funny about the peeing thing. Everytime I borrowed it I was soooo conscious about not peeing in it. The couple of times I rented one.....I peed away. Which is kind of disturbing thinking about what the others who rented it before me did.....
I'm just not sure what to say to her. She is a friend as well as a coach, How do I go about saying it is too much. Do I just offer less? Maybe 120?
What kind of wetsuit is it?
I have this and I love it. Its not great for freezing water but its great for summer triathlons. So easy to get off, and its not expensive: http://neosportusa.com/product/53mm-womens-nrg-sleeveless/
If the wetsuit was less than a year old, I would say half-off is reasonable. But 3 years is a long time (they have improved the cuts since then). I dunno, my friends tend to give me things so I guess I am just of a different mindset.
I would offer what you think its worth. If its a great suit then its probably worth $120.
thanks for posting this, btw. I need to wear my wetsuit this weekend and you made me realize that i have no idea where it is at.
