"GIrls" on HBO.

I gotta be honest, this looks good.

Re: "GIrls" on HBO.

  • I had to look it up.

    It looks really good!

  • I haven't even heard of it.  What's it about?

Have you checked out Magic City?  I think it's on Starz or Encore or something.  Looks good.

  • Magic City is on Starz. The first episode was decent but as I've said before, it's hard for me to judge a show on episode one. There's definitely a lot of unnecessary nudity though, but I think that's kind of Starz' thing.

  • Judd Apatow is involved. There is no way I would NOT watch this.

  • I have to say, I did NOT love Tiny Furniture.

I don't have HBO anyway, so my opinion is moo.

I never saw it. I just think the previews for this look amusing and sarcastic.

I don't have Starz! Please! I'm NestPoor. We can only afford one premium channel and it's going to be the one with Jon Snow, aiight?

  • We don't have any premiums.  TV is expensive yo.

We're thinking of getting rid of the satellite and getting a couple of chickens instead.

  • We only have Starz because Comcast made some minor mistake and to make it up to us, they offered it to us free for life.  They sort of just give it away like that.

Girls didn't start yet- I think it's this sunday and I'll definitely watch. Magic City is ok. Kind of slow. It's like the Jewish Sopranos in Florida in the 50's? 60's? yet none of the actors playing Jews are actually Jews and they don't even look close. I wasn't into it but B liked it. The girl who plays the daughter is the daughter of someone he went to high school with so I think he wanted to watch because of that.
  • TSD, that bugged me so much! Part way through I was like "wait, hold on, they're all supposed to be Jewish?" I didn't love it, but I'm willing to give every show a few episodes because the first show never has any feeling.

It was killing me. Jeffrey Dean Morgan is clearly not Jewish. The sons look so WASP-y, or at least the one who likes the maid girl, his name should be Carter Wellington or something. There have been about three dramas on tv where main characters are Jewish- what, there aren't enough Jews in Hollywood to use them?? Even the main guy's father is so Italian he was in the Godfather. I looked him up on imdb and he's played a long line of Jews though so it's understandable. He's a typecast Jew. But Jeffrey Dean Morgan? No no. No. Maybe if they got Adam Brody to play one of the sons...

I will say, it's interesting to have a show centered around Jews considering the only other one I've EVER seen is Being Erica and that's not even ours- it's Canadian

  • Adam Brody would probably be better, and he's only half Jewish, but he's probably too old at 32 to pull off teenage son.

  • I'm totally watching it. Oh, and the Newsroom show too.

I'm pretty much the only person on the planet who hates Aaron Sorkin, so I'll be sitting there rolling my eyes as Tim watches it. ::eyeroll::
