we don't CD but I'm thinking of starting swimming lessons with A.
I'm looking at the swim diapers from pampers and huggies and they both start at 16lbs...A is only barely 13lbs and I think these diapers will be too big on her.
I'm thinking of trying cloth for the pool as I have heard they're better anyway...any recommendations???
Re: CD moms - swim diapers?
We have used Bummis and Charlie Banana. The Bummis was nice because it was Velcro (we used that the first summer.) but last summer I liked that the Charlie Banana was a pull up. I think it still fits her this year but if not I will be getting another of those. (to go under her bikini!!! Haha. I LOVE little girls in "kinis" as B says.)
yup, plastic pants on top. Honestly I think since the bummis actually fit it would be fine (most of the kids in swim class have their disposable swim diaper peeking out of their plastic pants, so heaven knows pee is going to leak), but we do it anyway to follow the rules. I think a normal disposable would get huge and ridiculous for sure.
also keep in mind babies can only handle 20-30 min in the water anyway, so hopefully it won't be an issue. The girls still poop 1-4x/day and by some miracle, they've never pooped in the pool, but I think they would hold in breastmilk poo. The pee does go right through, but even EBF poo isn't literally liquid like urine. Our Y sells the Gerber pants for $3/piece too. since they're so cheap you can always pop on on top. I still worry about this since they're still not, um, solid poopers (and we've been swimming since they were 4 mo), but knock on wood...

We've been to a bunch of places swimming both here and OOS and I've never had any problems with the disposables. We are members of the YMCA, and do swim lessons there, and that's all I've ever used...I've even taken him to waterparks in disposables....
our Y is fine with disposables but requires the plastic pants over them (they sell them at the front desk). I don't know about the town pool though.
I've never put the plastic pants on ben. But he always wears swim trunks, so maybe that's it? IDK.
we use monkey doodlez, but nicki's diapers sells a bunch of different kinds
