I ate black pudding tonight.
I think my stomach is protesting, I feel horrible.
I had no choice. DH wanted to go to his grandma's cousin's house to give them photos from our wedding. Of course, genius wanted to go right after Spanish dinner time and there was no talking him out of it. Unfortunately, it means ... GM'sCIL (!?) ... waited for us and made a huge spread including black pudding. Nitwit DH goes "I don't like it, thanks" which means I had to eat double time. I could've killed him.
Re: I ate black pudding tonight.
"I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, My soul shall be joyful in my God; For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels." -Isaiah 61:10 NKJV
You know most black pudding isn't actually made with real blood anymore? Due to regulations and all that... it is generally only artisan producers that have the real blood. I think my favourite type is Clonakilty black pudding, which is a very well known make. (not a real blood version).
One of my favourite dishes is chicken breast stuffed with Clonakilty black pudding, red wine jus, on a bed of mash potato... Yum!!
I am about 92% sure that the black pudding in Spain actually does contain blood. And, it's delicious. Although I much prefer the kind mixed with rice to the kind mixed with onions.
To Elenetxu, sorry you had to eat it when you don't like it. I hope you're better soon.
You have my respect.
I think this another one of those things like arroz negro. You can't learn to like it. You just either do or don't.
Done right, I must admit I do like it. Problem is, I start eating it and thinking about it and don't feel that well.
I love morcilla (aka black pudding)! Good thing I didn't know what it was until after I decided I liked it though.
Apparently MIL makes a blood stew or something and I refuse to taste that though for some reason.
Sorry your stomach hurts!
