Any questions? I'm a bit under the weather, so I don't think I feel like writing a whole long review.
We stayed with friends in London. Some things we loved:
- renting bikes in Hyde Park (ridiculously cheap for an "excursion" at 1 pound each!)
- champagne tea at the Wolseley
- meat pies from the Square Pie Company in Spitalfields
- Borough Market
- we did a London Walk (http://www.walks.com/) which was a great time for a reasonable price
In Paris, we stayed at the Duquesne Eiffel. I can't recommend them highly enough. The location is great - within walking distance to Rue Cler, the Eiffel Tower, Les Invalides. Super friendly and helpful service. We booked a Superior room (#45) and had a ridiculous view of the Eiffel Tower from our window. I wish I was good at pip...when I post my pictures online, I'll come back with a link.
- dinners at Frenchie and Les Cocottes were both phenomenal
- of course, macarons from Laduree
We wound up not doing the Museum Pass and didn't encounter much in terms of lines. The only thing I would have done differently - I wish we had done a night bike/boat tour with Fat Tire. We expected the weather to be miserably chilly and rainy. We wound up having a full week of 70's and perfect sun. We decided we'd do the Fat Tire tour on our last day but hold off on the reservations (which aren't needed) just in case we were too tired, etc. The weather that last day was in the 50's and cloudy, so we didn't make it. Another time. ![]()
Other than that, we did all the stuff you'd expect, so I'm happy to answer any questions!
Re: Back from London and Paris
A travel bottle of hand sanitizer. Lots of germs on the metro - kinda makes me wonder if that's how H and I got sick.
Didn't need my umbrella, but it's tiny so it wasn't too much of a hassle.
Oh! I am also really annoyed with most hotel hair dryers, particularly abroad. Prior to this trip, I bought a travel dual voltage hair dryer from Amazon for $20 which was much stronger/better than the one at the hotel. I would have been annoyed had I not gotten one of those. I think the brand is Andis.
Thanks! We're headed to London in a couple of months so I'll keep these in mind.
Which London Walk did you do?
glad you had a great trip!
i have a UK/ireland hair dryer and a flat iron for mainland europe for the aforementioned reasons.
i am never an antibac nazi EXCEPT when flying/traveling
We did the Mayfair tour. Our friends have lived in London for 6 years - they have done a lot of the walks and said all have been great. We had been hoping to do the evening Soho walk w pub tours, but we didn't make it there early enough.
Overall, you enjoyed a lot and it was a great experience for you.I am also looking for moving to Paris for relocating there temporarily. And I hope,it would be great experience for me like you. So,thank you very much for sharing this info and make me knowledgeable.
Thanks!!!

I love Les Cocottes! I'm glad I'm not alone.
You can buy a small bottle of hand sanitizer at any pharmacy in Paris for about 2 Euros.
