If you have done a half marathon...questions!
I am considering doing a half marathon but wanted an idea of how long to allow to train. Currently I run 6 miles in 65 minutes M/W/F. I teach aerobics, do yoga and the elliptical also during the week at high levels. Usually I exercise 6 days a week.
How long would it take for me to train from here to do a half marathon? Any training website recommendations? I have always exercised so I am in good shape and health. Any info appreciated.

Do you have any other racing experience? If not, I would follow a 12 week (or longer) program w/ a few shorter races (5k/10k) built in. If you run 18 miles/week now, that's a pretty good base. Maybe you could continue running 3 days but change it up so you do a two shorter runs during the week and an increasingly longer run each weekend, rather than three 6 milers.
I think a lot of people use Hal Higdon plans. I reference HH, but I come up w/ my own plan b/c i have 3 little kids and it is tricky to work around my DH's schedule (i.e running 4-5 days a week is impossible to figure out schedule wise)! GL!
Agreed! As I recall, the HH novice program's first long run is 4 miles, so you could probably cut a couple of weeks off if need be. Have fun!
I don't know that I'd use the fact that you're already up to 6 miles as a reason to shorten your training cycle....maybe it's just me, but I'd use that base as a reason to work even more of the higher mileage runs in to be better prepared for the half.
I like the Smart Coach tool on Runnersworld.com. You can personalize it based on your starting level and how many days a week you want to train.
A standard training plan is usually around 10-12 weeks building up to a long run of 10-12 miles. You could probably do it in more like 8 weeks if you wanted since you have a good base. No need to rush, though, I'd start by picking my race and go from there.
