Dating Site Recommendations

What dating sites do you recommend?

Re: Dating Site Recommendations

  • I think many of us that have done online dating recommend OKCupid, Plenty of Fish, Match and EHarmony. I'd say eHarmony is the least popular, but there are several girls who have met their SO through eHarm and have a great relationship.

I've done eHarmony, OKC and Match (woah...online dating whoore here!) and out of those 3, I recommend Match. Best mix of guys that I find attractive and similar to me, have their sh!t together for the most part and looking for a seriously relationship.

    The Nestie formally known as....
  • Hahaha RRW I have used the same three sites also. Definitely doesn't make us whores ;) haha.  I liked Match the best too, and eHarmony the least.
  • My experience:

    Match - most decent

    OKCupid - crazies

    Plenty of Fish - Losers

eHarmony - Hardly anyone on there and they send you matches of people that aren't members and therefore cannot communicate with you.  Biggest waster of $.

  • I recommend asking a single friend in your area for suggestions, because it really seems to vary by location and your age. My cousin and I look very similar "on paper," for example, and she hated eHarm and loved Match and met her dh there. I was the opposite -- hated match (felt like a bar online with guys just looking to hook up) and loved eharm (much better quality, more serious guys on there, and I met so on eharm).

I went on match first because it was all I really heard about. I had little to no luck and was bitching about it to my doctor (who is a single guy a year older than me). He said that I didn't seem like a match.com kind of girl and suggested I try eharm. I am very glad he did.

ITA. I know people that loved Eharmony but in my area there are very few guys on there. I had a lot better experience with Match but I know a lot of people think it is a meat market.

  • In the past I used Match.com (hated, limited number of compatables and felt icky "paying" to meet men), POF (horrible, horrible, total freaks) and OKCupid (has it's share of freaks, but I found quite a few quality guys on there as well). I met my SO on OKC so that is the site that I recommend pretty much only for that reason :)

    Ridley Run 3.1 - 4/9/11 - 34:24 - 1st race evah!
    Kelly Monaghan's 5K - 5/15/11 - 3rd Place in AG
    Walk the Talk 5K - 5/18/11 - 31:12 PR
    Ridley Run 3.1 - 4/14/12 - 1st race of the year, 32:45
  • I've tried OKC, Match, and POF.

I really did not like Match at all, and agree with pp about feeling weird about paying!

POF is worse. That's like, the worst dating site I've ever seen.

OKC was kind of fun, met 2 really nice guys on there, but then pulled my profile.

I think a lot has to do with your area, and how willing you are to weed through all the profiles and contacts. I think online dating is more than I'm willing to do.

    So funny but so true

I GBCPOF a couple of weeks ago when I rejoined match and went back to look the other day.  It's really pretty ridiculous.  I can't believe I used to go out with guys from that website

I really have to refrain from responding with "ARE YOU FVKKING KIDDING?"

My profile even says I do not date men more than a few years older than me, and I get notes from men in their 50s. I get emails from men older than my mom!

And emails from 20 year old boys that make lame comments about what we'll tell our kids.

    And invites to come 'party'.

  • LOL at the POF comments-- I had a younger guy that started to chat with me, told me he thought I could be his MILF--- gross!!!
