Just some technical race questions
I've got my first race (10K) Sunday and I had some very technical questions about what to expect.
Do you get to keep your number thing that you have pinned on your shirt? I ask because I will be there by myself and kind of want a picture of me after the race with the numbers, and I'm not really the type to ask someone to take a pic. Silly, but that's ok.
Do they help you pin it on or is it easy?
If they give out free race tshirts, do they do that before or after? I don't know if I'll have time to go back to my car to put it away if it's before.
Thanks- I'm excited to get the first one over with so I can do many more!
Re: Just some technical race questions
In my experience, you keep your bib (the number). At packet pickup, you get four safety pins. It is easy to pin or your shirt. One pin in each corner. I always pin them to my stomach. If there is a portion that pulls off the bottom, tuck it under the bib.
I've experienced two different ways with the t shift. One (which I am most used to) is they give it to you after. I run a very big local 12k and the t shirt design is always a secret until you finish (assuming you don't see it before the end from people who have already finished), but the design and color are a really big deal each year. I ran a jingle bell 5k this past November and I got the shirt at packet pickup a few days before. That was very odd to me
.
Good luck on Sunday!

It's easy, however if you need help, ask whoever is assisting you at packet pick up.

It all depends . Participant shirts are usually given before the race when you pick up your bib. Finishers shirts are usually given after you cross the finish line.

Good luck, and have fun!
Yeah, it really just depends on the race, but all of mine have always given you the shirt before the race. If you're worried about not having enough time to go back to your car, just get there a little earlier!
Or, I have seen people run the race and just hold the shirt in their hand while running, or some people actually wear it during the race. Although I personally wouldn't want to do either of those, but to each their own.
My home office. Joeyzlovieg's hubby made it for me. I love it!
Yes,I'm smiling...I'm a marathoner!
