I'm running a half in two weeks and the race info mentions an athlete wristband, has anyone ever done a race with a wristband? The race material also mentions that your bib info so it sounds like it has both a bib and a wristband.
"A unique wristband will be affixed at check-in which must remain on until you have finished your race. This band will identify you as an official participant, is necessary for medical identification, and allows you access to the post race party and complementary massage."
I don't have a problem with the wristband, but I really don't to wear the fool thing from packet pickup till the end of the race. I will just ask them to not make it tight so I can take it off till the start of the race.
Re: Athlete Wristband/Irongirl Columbia half
I'm running that race too and just read that same thing yesterday in the info packet.
To answer your question, no, I've never done a race where you had to wear a wristband like that, so I'm not quite sure exactly what it's for. I'm not sure what kind of wristband it is (meaning plastic or a heavier paper material), but as long as I can still shower and stuff with it on, it's no biggie IMO. I am kind of curious about it though.
