Anyone want to help dress me for my last date on Saturday

I'm officially done with dating. I just cannot do it any more.  I'm supposed to meet this guy on Satuday that seems half way normal so this is my last shot...

We are going to an upscale Italian restaurant.  It's supposed to be a high in the 80s low in the 60s so I would normally wear a skirt.  The problem is he's only 6' and I'm 5'11" so I normally don't like to wear heels if they will make me taller.  I usually date taller guys so this isn't usually a problem.  And most of my shoes are heels.  And I hate wearing a skirt with flats.

I have a pair of black "nicer" flip flops and a pair of tan ballet flats (that are kind of beat up).  I'm not opposed to buying new shoes.

What should I wear?

TIA!

  • Kitten heels!  And how appropriate with your moniker.

  • What time is your date?

Please dont wear kitten heels ever. I don't care that you're a cat lady. No kitten heels.  What about a nice wedge?

What's wrong with kitten heels?  I haven't had a pair in awhile, but I wasn't aware of them being a faux pas.

  • I'd veto the flip flops (dressy or not) and the ballet flats.

I'd vote for new pair of shoes! Either a classic black flat, dressy sandal (as opposed to flip flops), or like PP suggested, a kitten heel could be cute! Or a slight wedge?

One of my fav pair of shoes are black wedge sandals... but they are like 3" heels

  • MCC is right.  Under no circumstances should anyone be wearing kitten heels.

    Ditto! Never ever.

  • What about something like this with dark skinny jeans a flowy top?  I'm all for dressing up denim.

  • What about something like this?

A shift dress? I would add a long necklace OR a chunky bracelet and some dangly earrings. You could bring a blazer if it gets cold.

I know you dont want to wear heels, but who cares! If it makes you feel good, do it Big Smile

A blazer like this with a colored tank underneath (Im thinking fuscia, orange, green) tucked in the front with some skinnies and cute heels/wedges. Add some fun bracelets.

    Maritime-stripe blazer

    GL!

  • I am 5'10, so I totally get the height thing.  I am from Iowa, so maybe that is why I am okay with jeans, but consider myself a trendy dresser with my work clothes.  If it were me right now for a Saturday night date, I would wear a dressier shirt that I have  (I have two that are similar) one is white and kind of sheer striped with sheer shoulders (not too dramatic), and the other is cream with a touch of sparkle to it, also with sheer shoulders.  I have a pair of nice Big Star dark dressier jeans that are fitted, and a nice cream colored flat with a little bit of gold in it.  Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize with gold jewelry and a great purse!  I think gold and cream look very dressed up, and the accessories can help with that.

Girls am I way off base in wearing jeans?  Yikes!  I have never worn a dress or skirt on a date, and I wear skirts every single day to work - so certainly not opposed!

Rocking a meat dress is def the way to go.

I always wear dark denim. I am not a dressy person though. I'm at work wearing my snowboarding flannel lol.

  • I say nothing wrong with dark denim as long as you know for sure you aren't going somewhere denim would be inappropriate.
  • Wear heels. You feel good in them and if this guy turns into someone more long term, he's going to have to be comfortable with you wearing heels. He might as well get used to it right away. I'd never wear flats on a first date.
  • Dark denim!? Its 80 degrees! I don't know about y'all, but for me, that's hot! I'd be wearing a summery dress... especially because it only gets that hot here in the height of summer.

So what's the deal with kitten heels? I've always found them uncomfortable.

Cute flats, or just wear your heels. If you like heels, and end up liking this guy, he'll have to get over the height thing. A lot of tall guys (and yes, at 5'2.5" -- yes, I did add the half inch in there! -- 6 foot is tall to me) like dating tall women. Surely he knows your height!
