Cleaning bath tub jets. Help!
How do I clean bath tub jets? I just bought a new home and when I turn on the bath tub jets, black stuff comes out. Our home inspector made it sound like you can buy cleaner for that at home improvement stores. I could not find anything at Lowe's yesterday. Online, I found a product called Ahh-Some but I can't tell if it's available in stores or just online.
Re: Cleaning bath tub jets. Help!
I have a jetted tub in our house, but I've never had this problem. I do have a problem with sand collecting at the bottom of the tub. (We live in a very sandy area with a lot of sandstorms and it gets all over you.)
My advice is to clean the jets themselves using a toothbrush and bleach.
My other advice is to shower before using the tub. Yes, I know, sounds dumb. But you're using the tub more for relaxation than actual body cleaning. You're not even supposed to use body washes and soaps in the tub (but I use my bubble bath in it anyway).
If you take a shower and scrub well before using the tub, you'll remove all the dirt and dead skin cells, and you won't have to worry about cleaning nearly as much, and there won't be black stuff (dead skin cells and dirt) coming out of the jets.
I tried this and the tub is spotless after I use it. I still spray it down with some cleaner afterward to disinfect, just to be safe. But no scrubbing is necessary!
Hope this helps!
