Hi ladies. I posted on the travel board, and was pointed in your direction.
We are going to Guam for a week, late this summer.
Does anyone have suggestions on what to do, where to eat, and where to stay? I'm leaning towards the Hyatt right now. We will definitely rent a car and drive around.
Any insight would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
Re: XP - Guam
One of our regs is there now but she had a baby a few weeks ago so it may be a while before she posts. You should be able to search back a bit and find a recent post about Guam(one of our other regs is getting ready to move there). I see if I can get a hold of one of them.

We are headed there this fall for 4 years but my husband was there last year for temporary duty. I know he raved about some restaurants, bars, beaches, etc I will check with him and post back later when he is home. Hopefully our reg who is there now can help you also!
I lived on Guam for the past 3 years, it is great!
The Hyatt is a great choice for hotels, they have a great pool!
Taking a drive around the island is a must and it won't take you very long a couple hours max depending on where you stop.
Definitely go to Jeff's Pirate Cove for lunch, it's a local hot spot with some great food. (it's not downtown). Tumon (downtown) has many chain restaurants; Planet Hollywood, Hard Rock ... but I would recommend trying the local BBQ it's yummy. Mermaids is probably my favorite place (again not on the strip) they make their own beer there and have awesome food.
Go to Chammoro Village to see the local culture, I believe it's every Wednesday night, it's usually really crowded but good for local food and gifts.
If your into diving or snorkeling Guam is the place to go. Big Navy has the best snorkeling/diving. There are a ton of hikes to waterfalls and beaches. Both Bases have great Outdoor Rec/MWR shops with guided tours and have a ton of info on places to go!
I hope this helps!
My husband said pretty much all of this. Especially Jeff's. Although for beaches and what not his group stayed mostly on base since it was easiest after work. It really is a small island so I think with the above and leaving the rest to adventuring you should have a blast!
Hi, it's me, the reg that lives on Guam.
Hotel wise I prefer the Fiesta and the Hilton over any of the others-- The Fiesta has 2 separate pools and has a nice beach front area, as well as a great international buffet and a fire dance-dinner show. The Hilton has an outdoor spa/massage and some awesome views as well.
I would go to Sunset Grill to eat, it's a small outdoor restaurant in Hagana- they make pulled pork nachos that my husband loves and grilled pizza which is so good! Chamorro village on Wednesday nights (pp mentioned as well) is fun to do once or twice. Navy has the best 'ocean' swimming, but Andersen has a fun little beach bar- Bamboo Willies. If you are into outdoor activities, I would go to a few of the hikes... Tarzan Falls is the easiest to find and is a pretty easy hike to some waterfalls that you can climb.
There is a river boat tour that takes you to an ancient Chamorro village that is pretty fun, you get to pet a baby wild boar
You can PM me if you want any info
Thank you. I am going to PM you.!
