I need encouragement and advice, please.
I am going to a single's event on Friday. It is called "cherry picked men". lol
Basically, the gist of it is that they take all of the highest rated men that women said "yes" to at previous speed dating sessions, and invite the same amount of women.
I am really unsure about this whole thing! I am not good under pressure or in large groups of strangers, and the whole thing is intimidating to me. I am considering backing out, but it IS the last weekend of my 20's and they say nothing good happens to people who don't step out of their comfort zones, right? =/
Re: I need encouragement and advice, please.
I have never been to one of those events, but I would think that it would be fun meeting new people.
I would go and see how it is. You can always leave early if you find your self uncomfortable or anything like that.

I planned on going alone. It is part of an organization that you have to be a member of. I am new to the organization, so everyone there will be a stranger to me.
I am just nervous that I will freeze up and blank out on what to say. That tends to happen to me a lot when I get nervous. I am ok with one-on-one dates, but this is like a giant pressure cooker. haha
I have a date on Thursday, this event on Friday, dinner and drinsk with friends for my b-day Saturday,. and brunch/spa day on Sunday. (my actual birthday) woohooo
I commend you for trying something new and you are right, good things can happen when you get out of your comfort zone. This sounds fun and I can't wait to hear updates on this.
That's pretty cool! Maybe try to talk to just one person at a time so it's not so overwhelming, you know? You don't have to talk to everyone at once.
I didn't know anyone on my kickball team when I joined- it was a major step outside of my comfort zone and I'm SO glad I did it. I hope things turn out as well for you. I can't wait to hear how it was!
Yes, go! That sounds like a great opportunity. I bet everyone will be uncomfortable and awkward.

Agree with PP. Dooooo it!
Go into it with the expectation of this being "practice" and a chance to meet some new people (men and women). Don't put pressure on yourself to get a date out of it. Maybe think of some topics that you can bring up if you feel like you don't know what to talk about (a good movie that you just saw, your favorite band, a recent vacation, etc).
Also, if it makes you feel more comfortable, approach a smaller group of people first. I think it will be fun. Definitely report back!
