Soap Nuts

Has anyone ever heard of these?  I ordered some but only tried them once and I think I need to use them a few more times before I am convinced.  They are supposedly some soft nuts that are from the Himalayas that you breakup and put in a mesh bag with your laundry instead of using traditional laundry soap.

Re: Soap Nuts

  • I used them for a couple of months, but kept finding little grease type spots on my clothes.  I switched back to traditional liquid laundry soap and the problem went away, so I don't really plan on using them again.

  • I have a sample of them and really like the idea, but I'm afraid to try it. If you accidentally put them in the dryer, allegedly Bad Things happen. I am a space case and would definitely forget to remove them. The bag would end up tangled in a shirt and go in the drier, and hey, now I need a new drier! And my shirt is ruined!

If you have your sh*t together better than I do, I say go for it.

Whaat? thats not true at all! I can tell you from experience NOTHING bad happens if they go through the dryer. Nothing, Nada, Zip.  Been using them for years. On lazy days I use 2 bags doing the laundry - so I don;t even bother to take one out, I just run it through the dryer and pick it out when I'm folding and the new load gets the other bag.

I get mine from Eco Nuts. www.econutssoap.com  I have been on their facebook page with a ton of questions since I started using them and they're really responsive. I like the nuts a lot and I reccommend them.
