Nursing moms who calorie count
I am slipping into bad habits so I am tracking again. Right after I had the baby I used Spark People and just added 500 calories onto their recommendations since baby was EBF.
Since I am working out so much more I have switched to MyFitnessPal since it has better calculations. Baby is now almost 9 months. I still breastfeed, but she eats a lot of food as well. I'd say I nurse 6 times a day and once at night.
I think I should maybe only give myself an extra 200-300 calories now, since my milk is not her only source of nutrition. Thoughts? What do you give yourself and how much are you nursing?

I didn't calorie count while BFing, but I did WW and they took away points when we added in solid foods.
I'd stick with 500 for now if it's working for you and you're losing weight. If you stall, then cut back those BFing calories. But if it's not broke, don't fix it.

Thanks ladies.
I've haven't lost weight in months -- I have been kind of at a happy weight (actually gained a pound or two) when I started lifting 4-5 days a week -- but I am smaller in size. I just have been getting lazy with my eating and while it has not reflected on the scale yet, I feel gross and binge-y.
I'd like to lose 5 more pounds, but I am not sure I will while I still BF. With my first I help on to a bit of weight until I weaned. I think I'll just play around with it and see what happens.

Late to the party, but I am stil nursing my twenty-one month old, anywhere from two to four times a day. I use 200 calories, and since the end of February, I have lost about six lbs, and I am stuck. Does seem to matter what I do, and the same thing happened when I was still nursing my DD who is almost 4. I am frustrated bc I have a good at least ten lbs to go, and no matter what I do nothing happens. I feel better, look better, and am just trying to focus on beng healthy and wean him.
Hopefully when he is done, the last lbs will go ( either with or without some hard work!)
