Guam - give me anything you've got
We are going to Guam late in the summer.
Does anyone have suggestions on what to do, where to eat, and where to stay? I'm leaning towards the Hyatt right now. We will definitely rent a car.
Any insight would be appreciated! Thanks!
Re: Guam - give me anything you've got
LOL all i've got is that it's a US territory.
You might want to repost this on MN or MF. Off the top of my head, I can't think of any MN regulars that have lived there, but it's likely that someone has experience given how much military gets stationed there.
All I remember from back when we had orders to move there (which were later canceled) is that there's a Waikiki like resort area with a ton of Japanese tourists. Also, there are snakes. I'm not a lot of help
My grandparents met and fell in love there when they were both deployed there in WWII. I've always wanted to go.
HAB on ML/PCE spent some time there as a kid, I believe in a military family. If you page her she may have some ideas.
I was there Aug-Oct during the end of DH's orders. I was told by everyone it was the worse time to visit due to the tropical storms. They roll in and out quickly but it can make the water less then desirable. The humidity is insane as well. There are some really beautiful areas, let me ask DH the names and I will report back. I know he did a ton of snorkeling, adventure races and mountain biking.
FWIW I didn't see a single snake. Both bases have worked hard to get them under control, you'll see lots of snake traps around the island.

Where would I book that?
Sorry for the delay. DH took me on the same tour used by Guam Safari Tours/Eco Tours, you go through the jungle, stop at falls and caves, then end on a secluded beach. I'd probably go with a tour over going it alone, easy to get lost. I think it was 4-5 hours if memory serves.
The island that we went to I cannot find info on, I am beginning to wonder if we took the ferry from the navy yard. If you can get onto either base they have good beaches, Gab Gab beach on the navy base has a great area. CoCo island is not it b/c that is privately owned and then a resort. It may be easier to grab some info when you arrive. Sorry I can't help more.
