I totally understand this happens all the time, and is not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. We will be fine whatever happens. However, just wanted to see if anyone has had luck with refunds or other changes after a schedule change.
We are booked to fly out of GSO (Greensboro) to MBJ (Montego Bay). We chose this flight particularly because of the early flight time and arrival to MBJ and because AA does not have baggage fees to the Caribbean.
The schedule change has us leaving and arriving several hours later, which means we basically lose the first day of our vacation.
There is an AA flight out of CLT (Charlotte) that leaves super-early and gets us there at our original landing of mid-morning. It's an hour longer drive for us to get to the airport, but very do-able and preferred for our desired landing. Return flight to CLT is fine.
What are the chances if I call and request a change to the CLT flight? Any other ideas or tips? A refund doesn't really help at this point because all other airlines are much more expensive at this point with similar or worse schedules.
I know no one here has a crystal ball and I won't know until I call, but just wanted to hear some other experiences or ideas before I call. Thanks so much!
Re: AA schedule change--will I have luck with these options?
I know this isn't the exact same as your situation, but I had an AA flight cancelled last year because of weather. I got a call on the way to the airport that they had cancelled my flight that night and put me on a different flight the next morning. I called to see if there were any other flight options and they seemed very willing to work with me. I ended up sticking with the new flight they booked me on, but when we were going over the other flight options, they never mentioned any additional costs to me.
Good luck!
Thank you! Glad to hear a positive story!
