cricut & construction paper ?

I tried to cut 3 inch letters out of construction paper and it ripped and scrunched the edges. I tried different settings with no luck. Is it me, the blade, or the type of paper? Or anything else?image

Thanks

Paula

Re: cricut & construction paper ?

  • Definitely the paper! I've not tried construction paper in my Cricut, but I have heard it won't work. You need a thin scrapbook paper at least. Michaels and JoAnns both sell inexpensive solid colored cardstock packs that cut pretty well in the Cricut.

  • construction paper has long fibers in it making it difficult to cut with the blade.  It's also cuts down on the life of your matts because of the fibers.

  • Thank you both so much. It was just for a quick bulletin board so I just used what I had that was cheap but won't do it again.Big Smile  I REALLY appreciate your responses!

  • If you get in a pinch at school, I have laminated construction paper and that helps a lot.
