Retin a users

I just started it and used it for the first time Sunday night. I have gotten some dry flaky patches and just feel dry. Not really irritated. Tonight I planned to use again but have a fun night out for my husbands Bday planned Saturday and was wondering if I would be a flaky mess. Should I wait and start next week?

  • To be safe, wait until Sunday to start it up again.  The sloughing process usually starts a few days after you've been using it, so you very well may be flaky on Saturday if you start now.
  • wait until after saturday to start back. and be sure to start every other night or even every two nights to ease your skin into it.

  • Yeah, I'd wait and start back on Sunday.  I had to put on a ton of moisturizer at night at first, and then used a buff puff when washing my face.  Doing these seemed to help with the flakes.
  • I started using this about a month ago and the dermatologist told me the dryness would occur, so she recommended using a light mostiurzer after I applied the Retina A cream.  For me, it's worked.  I don't have any dry patches.  She also told me to apply it every other night to help with the dryness.

  • I too just started it and am starting very slowly - every third night - and I am already seeing flakes after only 2 uses. I'm scared!! I am also moisturizing really well (even adding jojoba oil to my nightly moisturizer) but those damn flakes are still showing through my makeup!

  • USE SUNSCREEN! Always always.. Your face is super sensitive right now. I've used it before..
