A friend's BMs have planned a Hawaiian-themed bachelorette party. The plan is to meet up at the girl's house, visit, have a drink, (the invite hinted at games and a stripper) for a bit then head out to a club. The invite encouraged dressing for the Hawaiian theme, but I'm not about to wear a grass skirt and coconuts the bar. Is it typical to wear a theme out for a bachelorette, and what wold I wear? It's been a while since I've been to a club, and haven't got a clue what the standard is anymore or whether to or even how to wear a Hawaii theme without looking foolish. I'm 27 and about a size 6. I'd like to look and feel sexy, but I've got 2 kids and a little bit of a tummy. I've never even been to a bachelorette party come to think of it, I didn't brave one and neither did my only other married friend. What should I wear? Also, the invite said to bring tips for a stripper, what denomination is expected? I'm cringing at the thought of the whole thing, the bride is the only one I know there. Eek!
Re: What to wear to themed bachelorette
I'd wear some sort of floral dress like THIS one from Nordstrom, but check F21 if you're heading out to some rowdy bars. They have a lot of floral/tropical stuff right now and it's cheap so you wouldn't worry about ruining it.
You could also do beachy stripes like THIS or even a solid bright color with some sort of flower or even a tribal type earring.
Bring a cardigan that you don't care about in case you take it off in the bar and it gets trashed or lost in the shuffle.
As for the stripper - $1 bills.
I second f21. I would wear something tropical or floral. I would bring $1 bills for the stripper. Sound like it will be a fun time!
This is cute: http://www.express.com/floral-elastic-waist-dress-45695-954/control/page/3/show/3/index.pro
At least here, Hawaiian gear isn't standard at clubs. In fact, I'd be concerned about getting into decent clubs dressed in any sort of theme attire -- but I guess not all clubs are selective about entry.
I'd wear something simple and floral like what's suggested above, but to be honest, even if everyone else in your group went in that direction, you'd still look weirdly coordinated.
I'm sorry
I would be cringing too.
Wear a cute dress and put a flower in your hair. done!
