Re: HIMYM 4/9

  • I really liked this episode! I'm glad to see things going well for Barney, too.
  • So, did it seem to anyone else that they were purposely trying to hide Barney's left hand in that last scene?

  • I was happy with this one. As soon as they started doing the "[Year] For Real" scenes then I figured we'd see that last scene with 2015 Ted. Very sweet.

Yeah, he was making a fist and even sitting on his hand at one point, lol.

Also, I thought it might be significant that Robin was in every flash-forward scene except the last one.

  • That was a good episode. There wasn't really any info on Robin. I agree with pps about Barney hiding his hand. Keeping the whole will he or won't he go through with the wedding guessing game going.  It was nice to some good news for Ted.

But neither was Lily and I am not at all worried about her being around in 3 years.

I read this a while back and it comments on Barney's wedding. Slight spoilers but not the identity of the bride:  http://www.tvguide.com/News/HIMYM-Season7-Spoilers-1035439.aspx

I meant that it was interesting to me that Robin is no longer part of Ted's dreams for his future.  Tying back in to what Victoria said on the bus of how Robin is what's standing in his way of happiness. Once he's over Robin then he can find what he wants. We know Robin is still his friend in the future because his kids have a relationship with her.

But, the last scene wasn't his dreams for the future. It was reality, right?

I think that they could not show Robin in the last scene because if she and Barney were there together, you would be able to see their future relationship. (I like Quinn, but I'm still in the Robin/Barney boat)

  • I really liked this episode.  My husband and I laughed a lot. Especially when they were doing the flashbacks and when Marshall says something like "You know I hate those hats.." with the guy in the trucker hat and the moustache.

I'm warming up to Quinn so we'll see what happens..

YES. he was sitting on it. Haha.

  • It just seemed funny to me that they were SO obvious about hiding his hand! I guess even though Ted meets the mom at the wedding there's still a chance Barney doesn't go through with the wedding (or they want you to think there's that chance, anyway).

I thought this episode was just okay, so I guess I'm in the minority!

You're not alone. I thought the episode was boring until the end. I was annoyed with all the what if scenarios.

I thought the same thing.  The scenarios got on my nerves; I usually don't like when shows do that.  Barney hiding his hand was so obvious but my DH didn't pick up on it at all lol

Me too.  I didn't like it.  I guess I'm sick of nothing actually happening in the show.  I want it to move forward and it seems like nothing has happened this year (or last year for that matter!). Didn't they start teasing the Barney wedding like 2 years ago now?

I thought the what if scenarios were stupid.  And why was Lilly pregnant in every one?  Is that all Marshall cares about?

And Ted with the baby: just another tease that someday he'll be happy.  We know that already!!  Get on with the story already!

  • I thought the what if scenarios were stupid. And why was Lilly pregnant in every one? Is that all Marshall cares about?

I think this is because Alyson Hannigan (who plays Lily) is very pregnant in real life.

OH!!  I did not know that.  Now I get it...  Must be her second since she was pregnant before and they hid it behind pillows and bags!  That was so funny.

I agree, didn't really care for this episode.

I must be super oblivious, because I didn't notice Barney hiding his hand at allEmbarrassed

ETA: I did think the part with the sonagram w/ the trucker hat was funny though!

I laughed at that part, along with Marshall's extended scream. I also liked his mustache comments and the "Baby #5 ... I'm just THAT good!" comment on the sailboat.

Lonely 2015 Ted and his frozen meal hotline also made me laugh ("Wait! Um ... do YOU like cinnamon?"). And I like how Lily kept sarcastically acknowledging, "It's perfectly normal that we all still live together!" to get around the weirdness of all of them living in the same apartment.

Robin was better-dressed in those fantasies than she's been dressed in the last few seasons of the show. Nice to see her in clothing that wasn't totally fug.

  • I really liked this episode!  I was glad to get back to what's going to happen with Ted's life, since that's what the show's about.

I didn't notice Barney's hand at all.  I also didn't think anything about Robin not being there in the last scene.  Lily wasn't there either, but I don't think that meant anything.  The guys watch the movie alone - a guy's night.

It's kind of weird to me that they had him with a baby 3 years from now.  Allegedly, he doesn't even know the mother yet and they're going to meet, fall in love, get married, get pregnant and have the baby within 3 years.  I know it's possible, it just seems fast, ya know?  Oh well.

  • Eh, the episode was ok. I'm glad it's back though.

I loved the part where Barney said he doesn't want to be with any other girl but Quinn. That was an awww moment :)

I think it was really cute that Marshall always pictured him with children.

I awwed when Ted was watching TV with his baby :)

This is where I am - Ted meets the mother at Barney's wedding, but he never says anything about whether they go through with it - we only see the beginning of the wedding.

I'm just bitter - I HATE Barney/Quinn and Barney/Robin.  Barney is a stereotypical bachelor and stay that way. It's too obvious to try to match everyone else, like they did in Friends, 90120, etc.

I'm betting that the girl he ends up with wants to be married and have kids as badly as he does, so they have no problem with TTC immediately after getting married. Or maybe even before.

I took this to mean that he will meet the mother very soon. I imagined a timeline like this:

    2012- meet the mother
    2013- get engaged
    2014- get married
    2015- have baby
