Hunger Games Casting- because deep down I'm still 14.....
If you were to cast the characters that will be appearing in the next two movies of the series, who would you cast in what roles? I'm totally happy with who they chose for movie 1... Josh Hutcherson has brought out the 14- no, scratch that-- 12 year old girl in me...
Re: Hunger Games Casting- because deep down I'm still 14.....
really? I was disappointed in him as Peeta. I would have liked Zac Effron haha but my H said he's too old. lols
I'm pretty sure they did...he is just THAT short. If you notice in the movie they also use camera angles and strategic character placement to make him look taller. He is almost never shot directly from the front while standing next to Katniss.

I didn't like Lenny Kravitz as Cinna. I'm not sure who I would cast in that role but he was nothing like I picture the character to be.
President Snow would be someone who looks like Mr. Smithers from The Simpsons.
I pictured someone like Gerard Depardieu as Haymitch.
I agree with this. Also I know in the movie they have to cut stuff out and the book and movie are separate, but I get annoyed when the movie characters dont even resemeble their character descriptions from the book. Maybe Zac Efron can play Finnick. Army Hammer would also be a good choice.
Mommy's little helper
Totally agree about Cinna. I LOVE me some Lenny Kravitz, but I just didn't think he captured Cinna. I always thought Jay Manuel (Mr. Jay from America's Next Top Model) would have been perfect.
DH thought that Nick Nolte would have been a perfect Haymitch, and I gotta agree.
As for the next 2, I agree that Zac Effron could pull off Finnick. I do think that a young Rob Lowe would have been perfect. (anyone see him in "The Outsiders"? Perfect for Finnick.) But, alas, too old now.
DH and I both thought that Meryl Streep or Glenn Close would be the perfect President Coin.
Fun question, DH and I have been thinking about this a lot!

I loved the casting! I was iffy on some actors from the beginning, mainly Woody Harrelson but he ended up winning me over.
My Haymitch will always be Tim Roth though

Finally, someone who agrees with me!! I thought Armie Hammer would be perfect for Finnick.
And I always pictured Proto Zoa from "Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century" as Cinna. I loved LK as Cinna, but he didn't seem out-there enough for the role. To me, at least.

See, I think I like the fact that Josh Hutcherson is shorter than Jennifer Lawrence. I think he should appear weaker (in a sense) than she is and having a taller guy would have made it tricky sense (I love J Lawrence) she is taller and built differently than the book described her. Not complaining about her, sense I thought she did a great job.
I think Armie Hammer or Alex Pettyfer would be great as Finnick. Zac Efron seems too young for me (sorry, in my mind he's still a teenager, not a 24-year-old) and I picture Finnick as almost TOO pretty and a bit more smarmy than Efron.
Who do you think would be good as Johanna? I'm really torn on this one.
I think Streep would be a great Coin OR Helen Mirren.
How about Annie?
For Johanna, I kinda picture Jena Malone. The books said she initially portrayed herself as a weakling in order to fool the other tributes, and that's how she won. And then later, she's described as mean-spirited and facetious, which I think Jena Malone would pull off well.
For Coin, I'm not so sure. I don't think they should use anyone too famous, since that would pull focus from the main characters.
And for Annie, I think Jane Levy would do well. I was going to say Emma Stone, but I wonder if she's too well-known for the role, and Jane Levy looks almost exactly like her.

I like your ideas for Johanna and Annie!! Also, I see your point with Coin....
Who do you think with Plutarch Heavensbee, Beetee and Wiress. For some reason I keep picturing Stellan Skarsgard for Plutarch and Jane Adams for Wiress. For some reason when I was reading the book I kept picturing Paul Giamatti for Beetee... But would those names be too big?

Coin:
Finnick:
I like the top two! Not sold on Finnick though....
Exactly what I thought!
or Dianne Wiest
I REALLY hope they stick with an unknown for Finnick. I like Zac Efron but he's no Finnick.
I don't know who you're referring to on the 24 YO part but Finnick IS 24 (as is Efron after a quick google search) because he was the victor of the 65th HG
Blog!
I agree about Finnick not being a huge name. Maybe it's because I don't watch enough movies (?) but I honestly didn't know who Armie or Alex were until less than a month ago- so they're new names to me. Whereas when I moved back from Europe a few years ago High School Musical was big and Zac Efron was the it-boy.
In regards to the 24 YO thing, what I meant was that even though Efron is 24, to me he seems a lot younger. Maybe because I still think of him as a teenager. I just think of someone who looks a little older. Not much older, just a little older.
Um, he's looking older to me these days. Yum.
