I've been stalking and bidding on the J.Crew turquoise bubble necklace on Ebay for weeks now. I narrowed my search to U.S. sellers only, to avoid fakes from Asia. Well I finally won an auction at a good price and paid the seller. All good, until I get tracking information that shows it's coming from China, not Michigan, where it was supposed to come from.
I'm super annoyed. I called Ebay this morning, and they said my options are to either contact the seller and ask them to cancel the transaction and refund my money if they didn't send it already, or wait until it arrives and then submit a claim that the item isn't as described, since it shipped from somewhere different. Bets on my chances of success in dealing with this? I'm guessing not very high.
Re: Ebay rant
I'd be so angry. I always look for US sellers and never really considered that the item might not actually get shipped from the US.
I'm guessing you might be out of luck. I'd try contacting the sellers and go through those channels first, but realistically I'd be willing to bet the only recourse you'll have is to leave negative feedback.
Hopefully when you get the item it is genuine.
Do you think it's possible that the seller is in the US, and he/she just purchases the items from a Chinese company/place when you bid, puts in your shipping address and never even has possession of the item?
That to me is even more sketchy of a situation, because the sellers really would have no first hand knowledge of if the item was authentic of not.
I would say it is unlikely. Either way, not okay. I paid through Paypal so I can probably file a complaint through them as well.
SHOCKINGLY, I threatened to file a claim with Ebay and the seller refunded my money. I seriously can't believe it. Phew.
Lesson learned.
