XP from MM: Has anyone ever used PODS for moving?
I asked over at MM but thought I would ask here as well:
I am going to be moving into an apartment this summer and am not taking everything from our house (I am leaving most of the large furniture with my STBXH and really starting over), and I was thinking that I might like to use the PODS service to pack up and briefly store the stuff I am taking in a storage container in our driveway as a I pack up (provided he is okay with that, which I don't think will be a problem). However, I was looking for any experiences others might have had, as well as any ideas you might have regarding pricing. The reviews online are favorable, for the most part, but I would love to hear from some people I "know."

Re: XP from MM: Has anyone ever used PODS for moving?
I haven't personally but my best friends used a POD when they were living with their inlaws. They said it was good but very expensive... way more expensive than a storage spot would have been. Also I don't think they were able to access their stuff.
Hmmm...if that is the case, then that definitely won't work. Yikes! I would only be moving like 20 miles, and if they are going to charge me a month anyway, I guess that U-Haul is the way to go. Bummer.
I looked into doing this. I was moving, we were selling so I was packing up, but also wanted to "stage" the house, so we didn't want it to look cluttered. The POD was expensive and for the distance I was moving it just didn't make much sense to pay all that money, but then still have to get a uhaul for the stuff I wasn't or couldn't pack ahead of time.
I opted to just get a storage space, pack boxes and move a car load of them over as I went along. Moving was then relatively painless...mostly furniture and then all the boxes from storage.
