Well that didn't last long.....

I posted back in January about my H coming home early from Afghanistan as a surprise...

That was a very short lived gift the Marine Corps gave me,
As soon as he got back from post deployment leave he was assigned to a new unit in need of Gun Section chiefs....
And he is deploying here again extremely soon.

On the bright side,
I still have a whole crap ton of boxes left over for carepackages.
Big Smile

  • That sucks :( I'm sorry..

    And LOL at the boxes.

  • That sucks, but way to spin something positive on it.  Besides, at least you know where to come for mindless disctraction.

  • Ugh, I am so sorry. That completely sucks.

  • I love carepackages....
Besides my 2 year old LOVES to color the boxes for Daddy.

It does suck, but we'll get through it like we always do. That's the great thing about being a family.
DD1 just recently stopped waking up in a panic asking me if Daddy is in "Sanistan", so she isn't going to be pleased to know he is leaving again.

I think what really troubles me is the amount of guilt DH feels for having to be gone so much. We've been married for four years and he's spend at least a year and a half away from home between trainings and deployments.
Lately he's been telling me how sorry he is for not spending enough time with us, and how he hates missing so much of the girls' lives.
    It's heartbreaking really.

The military doesn't like to play nicely all the time.... H is missing his pre-deployment block leave for some training.. and he won't get his post-deployment block leave because we will be moving right when he gets back. boo. I want a freakin [belated] honeymoon sometime!!! :P

Hopefully your DD1 will be a little more used to it this go around :/ Glad to hear she stopped waking up in a panic.. Let's hope those days are gone for good! Have you thought about how you are going to inform her of the up-and-coming deployment?

My H feels guilty with how long he's been gone in our relationship as well.. but cracking silly jokes and teasing helps ease his heart a little I think. At least this isn't new for you two. You did it before, you can do it again like you said. Do you do anything special to help him not .. miss out as much as far at the girls go? Thought about doing a fun family photo shoot before he leave (or after for him to have great pictures of the three of you)?

  • Sounds like you have a great attitude!  Just pass it along to your daughter and you will get through it.  :)  Come here and post if you need to, we definitely need it!
    Shot first, questions later.

We did a "family" Photo shoot when he left the first time (I was 34 weeks pregnant with DD1), a family photo shoot the week before we found out we were pregnant with DD 2, and one with All three of us in it before he left for afghanistan in October.
I'm definitely big on family pictures.
I love to see how much we grow and change as a family.

I try to video tape things and send them to him so he can see.

If you have any suggestions to make the transition easier for my girls, Believe me I'm all ears. I would appreciate it more than you know.
