How many houses did you see?

Re: How many houses did you see?

  • We're at approximately 15 so far, with a grand total of ZERO that we liked/could afford/would work for us.

Last time we bought it was over 60.  I'd be happy if we could buy in under 30 this time, but we'll look until we find what we're looking for.

  • We saw about 25 houses. We liked 1 and made an offer. Couldn't come to an agreement so we are building now. For us, new construction was the way to go. Same price and it will be new.
  • We saw about 10, I knew it was the house for us before we even went inside.  We went to see all the others just to see if there was something we liked better, and there never was.

  • We were looking for about 6 months (with 2 failed bids) before we finally went under contract, so we were SAFELY over 30!!

  • We looked online for 2 years. Total seen with REA in real-life was around 10.
  • I have seen around 15 in person, but I have weeded through thousands of listings online since last October.

We looked at thousands of online listings.

In person, less than 10 with the realtor. We attempted to view more but many went under contract before our appointment. We went to a lot of open houses when we were "pre-buying" just to see what we liked and disliked.

We looked at a lot too online.  Also, I grew up in the town we moved back to so I knew the areas and where I'd want to live so that ruled out quite a few.  I also know the main builders from this town and what kind of layout the house would be for the most part.  That helped a lot.  We probably looked at 6-8 in person all within a few weeks/month.

  • over 50 in 4 months. i was not working at the time, so as soon as something hit or even before they did, my agent would get us an appointment right away.
  • I voted 0-10 but my actual number was 1.   It was my first house and it was in the neighborhood I grew up in and it was so cute and well cared for. It only had one owner wo lived there for  about 40 years.  I heard it was going up for sale and contacted them and saw it, made an offer and it was accepted. Done deal!

  • We looked at less than 10 but it took us 11 months to find a house to buy.  We were very picky and only asked our realtor to show us homes we knew could meet our 'wants' list.

  • I saw 7 in person and stalked tons on the internet.
  • Probably just over 30 in person. We started looking when the inventory in the area was a bit down and saw some real losers. Luckily we didn't have to be out of our current place right away. It wasn't until the last few houses that we saw anything we were really interested in.

Online-I can't even tell you how many we looked at. I'm sure it was thousands.

  • We actually only looked at 3 houses before finding the one we have now. We were looking in a very rural area and I think we got really lucky when we found our house!

We looked at a lot more houses online and drove by some of them though.

  • We went in person to 3 or 4 houses, and I searched through hundreds of homes online prior to going out. It was horrible to try to schedule times to go house hunting and I wanted to make 100% sure that our time was well spent, going to homes that we really really wanted to see.

It's funny; the house we're going to be moving into in two weeks, I sat down on the couch and felt totally at home there. I could see the Christmas tree in the corner, I could see my daughter playing in the backyard. The house had a good feel to it.

  • At least 40, maybe more, in the 7 months we were actively looking. And hundreds online.
  • We searched for 9 months and saw about 20 houses.

We put two other offers out there (Oct and another in Dec) but when they countered we didn't accept. The one needed a ton of work and the other one wasn't ready to sell (they took the house off the market the next day). When we found the right house we would know it, and we did.

We went back to our original search and the one house that we loved (but we couldn't afford at the time) was lowered $40k and we had saved up a lot more over the 9 months. So we took a look, took a second look, and then we put and offer on it. We just moved in 4 weeks ago!

  • In total? 3.

The first was a new build. We couldn't agree on a price. Well, more specifically, we couldn't agree on what upgrades would be included in the price.

The second house we saw was the one we made an offer on. The inspection came back with some bigger repair items that we weren't willing to deal with, so we looked at another house while we waited to hear back from the sellers. They fixed everything, so it was no big deal.

I looked at hundreds of houses online for months . Our agent didn't show us any. The two pre-existing homes were open houses that we went to.

  • We saw about a dozen in person, but looked at hundreds online. If our house had been the second one we saw we would have bought it.
  • We looked at 27 with the realtor. Before hand we had driven around and checked out all the houses we liked online to see if we liked the outside and neighborhood too so that was around 55 we drove to. We also had looked two other times about 1-2 years before buying before deciding to wait and I think both times we saw 7 houses.
