A Poll from MM re: Friends

Are you still friends with the same "group" of people that you were in high school? For example, if you were a jock, are your current friends all ex-jocks? Or are you best buds with the former bank geeks?

Re: A Poll from MM re: Friends

  • I'm still friends with the exact same people I was friends with in high school --  the geeky anime-loving, video game-playing group we were years back!  We've kept in touch since and most, if not all of us, still live in our hometown.  And we're still up to the same shenanigans.

I guess the same goes for my college group of friends -- we're all a little geeky, though maybe not all in the same way as I was with the high school group.

As for other friends, aside from you Niners, yeah I think I tend to stick with those of similar interests.

  • I was a cheerleader in high school.  My friends now are mostly non-cheerleaders, though one work friend was on the pom squad, but I think we were all fairly well liked in high school.

  • I was pretty nerdy in high school, well liked but a goody goody, straight A student, and band geek. I think most of my friends were much more rebellious in high school than I was, but they're also mostly engineers or teachers and I classify both of those things as nerdy. I'm friends with a lot of jocks too (mostly through Robin). I don't have an athletic bone in my body.
  • I have the same exact circle of friends since middle school. I don't feel like we really fit into any 'group'. We didn't do sports, or band or anything like that (well, I did dance & color guard but stopped Junior year).

  • I didn't have any friends in high school, and I still don't have any friends. So....yes?

    Ahem...

    Except you guys, of course.

  • In high school I didnt have any friends because we were poor and blah blah blah family history that can be read in my blog.

Now I have more money than 75% of my friends and I bask in the glow of that.

But really, I only had one or two really close friends and they were both very similar to me. Its the same now, although I have acquired a few in each stage of my life (elem, college, work, social, husband's friends' wives, etc.).

  • I had a diverse group of friends in HS. I am still friends with five girls I have known since middle school. In HS, I was friends with the valedictorian, and my BF dropped out. I had nerdy friends, jock friends, stoner friends, and mean girl friends.. I think that I was better in HS at making new friends. I am usually good at keeping them. I am a loyal person.

  • Hmm, I am still very close with a group of girlfriends from high school; they are still some of my best friends.  I have other groups of friends, but I guess in a way, they are all similar "types" (I know they all get along with each other).  But, I have made several friends along the way that I would say "don't fit the mold", and I treasure them just as much.

  • I am only friends with one or two people from HS, outside of FB that is. On FB everyone feel the need to friend people they barely spoke to irl, so I have gotten friend requests from just about everyone. I pretty much cut ties with 99% of the people I knew in HS because most of them were not true friends.

Most people now would not guess that I was on the Drill Team and a Cheerleader in HS. So I guess its safe to say I do not hang out with the same type of people.

  • I'm still close friends with the same three girls that I've been close to since kindergarden (our town school is k-12 all in ine building).  Three of us have moved back to our hometown an the other live 45 mins away.  The two in our town married guys they dated in our highschool.  I'd say we were the nerds/artsy/musician types, my girl friends were super smart A students and i was always a B student, I was really into art and our guy friends were into Dungeons an Dragons and magic cards and art too.

In college I definitely hung out with the artsy group because that's what I was going for and I made friends in my classes.  I'm really in touch with my college friends because when my boyfriend from my freshmen-senior year and I broke up I pukke away from that whole group and became a total loner.

  • Lord, no! Looking back, I'm not sure why I was friends with them in the first place. They all were incredibly immature and still are. Half of them still live in my old neighborhood with their parents, no job, and play video games all day.

  • I was kind of a loner back in HS, with only a few close friends.

Currently? I have no friends. I wish I was kidding. My 'best' friend was apparently visiting from TN last week and I didn't even know. She didn't even bother to call me. I cried like a baby on Saturday when I found that out.
