Mad Men Question - Possible Spoilers

I just watched all the Mad Mens leading up to this season on Netflix, and I am addicted.  I have only watched E1 of this season so far.  I have two questions, sometimes when you watch 4 seasons in a matter of 2 months things start to run together! :

Does Pete know that Peggy had his baby?  I vaguely remember her telling him, and him saying "Why would you tell me that?" and then it wasn't brought up again.

Does Roger know that Joan's baby is his?  I know he took her to get the abortion or gave her money for it, and she didn't go through with it.  But then there was an episode where she first told him she was pregnant, and that's when the abortion was planned.  But how does she explain her pregnancy if he thinks she got an abortion?

  • Yes. I believe Pete and Roger both know. At least that is my understanding.

  • Yes to both questions.  And I dont' remember exactly, but I do feel like Joan did tell Roger that seh changed her mind.  But even so - I don't know that anything needed to be explained.  I think Roger would figure it out that she changed her mind. :)

  • Hm.  I feel like I missed something with Roger knowing.  Or I forgot.  Thanks everyone!

  • I don't believe a convo between joan and rodger after the cancelled appt. was ever shown, but rodger would easily figure it out since joanies husband is in Vietnam the whole time...so pregnant Joan = Rogers baby.
  • I don't think Roger does know.  He was really casual about seeing the baby, and if he knew it was his, I think he would either be way into it or not want to see it.

There was never a convo between Joan and Roger but I mean, she had a baby so it's pretty obvious that she didn't go through with the abortion. I think after she didn't go through with the abortion it was pretty much understood that she would act like this was her husbands baby. That to me explains Roger's reaction. I think now that she has left her husband this topic will be coming up in future episodes.

    That's why I thought he didn't know.

He made a joke when he saw Joan when she visited the office. Something like, "there's my baby" and then went to hug Joan. It was pretty clear that he knew... Also, how could he not know. The math is pretty simple!
