I could kiss you all!
OK, I'm going to try and make this short and not confusing but we'll see. So today I got the offer with Starbucks, I told her about the other job and she was totally cool with it. We worked out a schedule for my training over the next two weeks around the other job, everything was peachy. Well the offer from the company yesterday was made through a staffing agency, not the actual company. The staffing agency called while I was with the Starbucks manager, I ignored it and listened to the voice mail after I left.
Apparently, the company that originally offered me the job had their payroll company go bankrupt and they didn't pay his companies taxes(something about escrow) so he's now facing law suits, tax issues, and maybe foreclosure. So, the last thing he needs is another employee to pay for. The staffing agency said they'd keep my resume and call me if they had anything else come up. So, I called Starbucks and re-did my schedule, I start Monday! And she actually offered me more money than my original offer from the other job, so I guess it works out. Kinda?
Re: Man that MN juju is good! - Update
Fantastic!
I thought you had orders starting today...what's going to happen to them?
Oh they called me yesterday and told me that since I still belong to my old state, they can't pay me. I guessed that but was hoping if I didn't stir the pot they'd work something out, but alas, they couldn't.
So, I had an awesome interview with Starbucks yesterday for shift manager, she probably would have hired me right away if she could. She's supposed to call me today, if they give me a second interview or an offer, should I tell them? Since it's part time, I could probably work both and she seems like she'd be ok with that. Thoughts?
What's the worst that could happen? She can't hire you. The best? You have two jobs.
That's kind of what I figured. I won't tell her when she calls, just if she invites me to do a second interview or offers it.
Yeppers! I was a shift at Starbucks in college. I had a set schedule and worked the closing shift every day. I rotated through 2 stores and in both you put in your availability and were pretty much scheduled exactly to that. I would assume its pretty standard across stores. It was never a problem to have limited availability.
Congrats on your first world problems!!
Good plan!
Congrats S!
this is a really good juju week for MN!
who else needs it? lol
I changed my name
That's awesome! So glad things are working out.

Huh, it is gone. The martini is there still. Lame.
Oooh, yum! Good call.
Except I apparently selected the wrong emoticon. Fail. Lol
I saw the thumbs up and was like ... how... do they...connect? The code has a Y in it. Y. Yuengling. And that's as far as my brain got. lol.
