We want to update the outdoor lighting. We have a high ranch. Here's what we're thinking:
For above our front entry way:
One for each side of the front of the garage (it's an attached garage):
Around the back of the house (deck, yard):
And a floodlight for the side yard:
Our siding is tan and the house is a mix of the siding and red brick. What do you ladies think?
Re: Do these go? Link heavy.
That's tough. I like them all, but I think I would like to stick with the same shape all the way through. The square one just doesn't seem to go with the others. Although, I do think the square one is my favorite right now... :-)
my read shelf:
I agree with PP- I would use the same kind all around the house. Our townhouse has one similar to the third link above the front door, next to our garage, and right outside the back door. The neighbor we share a driveway with has the same one.
I also really really hate floodlights. The family behind my parents house has one in their back yard. (The two yards backed up to one another.) My bedroom was on the back of the house- every time they had their floodlights on, I couldn't sleep with my windows open, as it was super bright outside. This annoyed me every year (all year round, since theirs was motion sensor-ed so every time the dog went out through the dog door, it would go on, from the time they installed it in middle school until I moved out two years ago. I will never install a floodlight at our house as a result.
