Another Maui Q??? Sunset Cruise...

So we just booked a sunset cruise and the lady at the tour desk that booked it threw me off when she said not to wear a skirt. Well all I bought was shorts and maxi dresses. Of course I'm planning on wearing a maxi dress but she said something about trying to hold a drink and your skirt isn't fun. Do you think a maxi dress will be ok????

Re: Another Maui Q??? Sunset Cruise...

  • Is it a dinner cruise or just a cocktail cruise? If it's the latter those are usually pretty casual. You wouldn't have to wear a dress "of course."

  • It's a dinner cruise. Regarding the dress I just always think of a dress when thinking about a dinner cruise

  • It can get REALLY windy in the evening in Maui, especially on the Kaanapali side.

  • It's on a boat.  Don't wear anything that can blow up.

Besides, it's Hawaii.  We're not very dressy here.  I've worn one dress in the year I've lived here, and it was to H's Christmas party.  Even at a charity gala women were in pants.

  • We took a sunset cruise (on a catamaran) on our honeymoon in Maui.  I wore capri pants with a cute top.  I don't remember seeing many females in skirts or dresses.  The captain also made everyone take off their shoes so they wouldn't slip while walking around.  Just another thing to think about, especially if you're maxi is really long and will drag without you wearing shoes.
