Hindsight and other ladies who sew
I'm trying to hem curtains that I got that are too long. They are made out of linen. I don't sew very often and I don't remember ever having to change my thread tension. Either my bobbin thread is too tight or the top thread is too loose in my stiching. What am I doing wrong? What should my thread tension setting be on?

Re: Hindsight and other ladies who sew
You might have just bumped the tension dial somehow. There really isn't a right or wrong tension per se. Just whatever works with your machine/fabric. So just try adjusting it until the stitches come out right on some scrap fabric.
If that doesn't work, you can also try rethreading the machine, making sure your bobbin is inserted/unwinding the right way, and using canned air to clear any lint from the sewing machine works.

If all those things don't work, try replacing the needle.
