Vent: early morning drivers

I just got back from the farmer's market (which I love). It's about a 20 minute drive - which in Houston is just like being next door. It opens at 8 and I try to get there early. For some reason I never make it until 8:30 even though I'm up at 6, but I digress.

That early on a Saturday morning means the roads are fairly empty. That does not mean that you-lady-holding-the-starbucks-cup-in-one-hand-and-driving-with-the-other can cross three lanes of the feeder road in right.in.front of me. Really? No one behind me. I swear she never saw me, even when I changed lanes to pass her.

Then there was the dude in his 3 quarter ton truck (this is Texas people) at the stop light. I'm turning left in a non-dedicated green light. He has no blinkers on so I'm waiting for him to go so I can turn left. Then he apparently notices that he's holding me up so he puts on his left turn signal. I'm going left. He's going left. Perfect. I start to turn then what does he do? Changes his mind in the middle of turning left. Puts on his right! turn signal and turns the same way I'm going! Ack. His truck is huge he doesn't have that kind of turning radius. Like for real? Who does that?

Seriously, no traffic does not mean you can make up the rules as you go!

I shall now celebrate safely returning home without any additional broken bones by eating my basket of fresh strawberries. Smile

Re: Vent: early morning drivers

  • I used to live in the Houston area....I totally sympathize with you on the horrific driving that one comes across while driving there...Growing up in New Jersey I am a pretty aggressive driver and I still cringe thinking back on my days driving in the Lone Star State...

On a happier note, enjoy those fresh strawberries!

  • Oh Houston! Where driving with a middle finger is more important than a horn, lol
