Whelp, I've got severe squamous cells in my cervix

Highest of the high grade.  LEEP is scheduled for May 10.

I'm trying very hard to hold it together at work right now.  Going home is not an option.  Telling myself that this isn't cancer and that after the LEEP I have a 90% chance of being OK isn't helping too much.

I'm still going to the GTG.  I'm bringing my own case of wine.

This is my siggy.

Bowies... you and I are SO getting drunk :)

    {{hugs}}

I know it's corny, but I believe with all my heart and soul in the power of positive thinking.  Don't allow yourself to go to "that place".  We're here if you need us to talk about stupid sh|t!  You know I'm always good for that!

  • Oh, Bowies. I am sorry. Do what you need to do to get through this. Throw yourself into work if you have to. I know it's a bad time to be distracted right now.

I'm glad you're still coming to the GTG. I promise to make you forget allllllll of your problems. Scout's honor.

I agree with everything that muddled said. You should listen to her. -ESDReturns
  • Sorry to hear, and ditto imoan big time.

Believe in the support you have that's real over the uncertainties.

  • Big hugs Bowies. Huge big hugs.

I'm so sorry. I'm keeping you in my thoughts.
  • I had this too and it was very very scary. Doesn't help when the doctors start talking about radiation and whatnot (I would've opted for removal). A LEEP is weird, the local anesthetic is so freaky.

But the good news is this often takes care of it. I was on probation (going to OBGYN every three months) and it's been almost two years with normal paps.

Good luck and calm yourself. Yes, we tend to fear the worst but don't work yourself into a lather before anything is known.

    HUGS!

  • I'm going to be OK.  I'm going to be OK.  I'm going to be OK.

And now I am going to sign off for a while so I can get my head back into work.

    Thanks everyone.

  • I'm sorry! I am with Imoan in the power of positive thinking. You'll make it through this, and in the meantime you can get blitzed. Everything crossed that the LEEP goes well and you have a swift recovery. Left Hug

  • Sorry you're having a rough time. Wishing you the best.
  • Good luck! The LEEP sounds so much worse than it is.

I've had the LEEP procedure done twice (back to back - a tiny amount of cells were missed the first time) and I was on a 3-month schedule at the gynecologist for 2 years.

The first time was hell on wheels, but that's because I had a bad reaction to the anesthetic. The second time I went without the anesthetic I was able to go back to work directly after.

That was 10 years ago and I've been all clear ever since.

Go ahead and ask if you have any questions.

I'm really sorry this is happening, though...how scary.  Drink up this weekend, and have a great time with the girls.

You *will* be okay, because this entire board says so.  I hope the GTG is/was awesome and that the combination of imoan's boobs and alcohol make you relax and have a great time.  I'll send good thoughts your way.
