Uuuggghhh

I live in another city from my husband half the time because I'm about to finish nursing school. His family went to go pick up his sister's new puppy and Zack made plans to have them stop off here on their way back home. I know this because he just got a phone call and said, "Ok, y'all just left?" and I'm like "umm..what?". He THOUGHT he told me about this but he didn't. They're a couple hours away, I just got into town, and had NO idea they were coming. Our new puppy isn't fully vaccinated yet and I don't know where this other puppy is coming from. What if she has Parvo? I'm so livid right now and I don't know what to do because they're on their way here now.

DH is in the dog house.

  • I hate when M "forgets" to tell me he made plans involving me. Its usually the days I plan on relaxing and not doing much of anything. Hope it goes well, and that the puppies do ok together.

  • Parvo vacation is done at 3 months or 10-12 weeks. What set of shots is your pup on?

  • She gets combo shots and I'm too lazy to look it up. She gets one more round on the 30th. Regardless, the vet specifically told us that our puppy should only be around adult, vaccinated dogs until she finishes all of her vaccines. I'm just pissed that these plans were apparently made a couple of weeks ago and I never got the memo. I've been working longs week and DON'T want to spend my couple of days off with my in-laws. Did I mention they also got a hotel for the night? They just love doing that without telling us. This means they'll want to get together tomorrow for breakfast so I'll have to wake up early, meet them at their hotel and wait over an hour for them to finish getting ready, and then have "breakfast" for 3 hours. No thanks.

  • Could you just keep the dogs separated? It's not ideal but I wouldn't want to risk it. Sucks YH forget to tell you. Luckily we live far enough away that we don't have drop in guess. ;)

  • I would keep your dog in her crate while the other dog is there. And if the other dog has a crate or carrier I would ask them to keep her in there while in your home just in case it has anything contagious to other pups. But, I'm paranoid like that.

That's a crummy situation, sorry girl! And another reason why I am thankful to be thousands of miles away from both of our families.

  • More likely than not, your dog has been Vaxed against parvo especially if he only has one DHPP combo left. Regardless, don't have breakfast tomorrow. Let your husband deal with the OOT guests for the morning. Just say no and sleep in like you deserve!

No, you don't. Really, the world won't end if you stick up for yourself.

  • If the dog has parvo, it will infect your yard through feces or by human transfer. Also, the vax isnt 100%. Can you ask about the vax records of this new puppy? Parvo is no joke for pups, especially under 6 months.

DH tried to basically ask them not to come because of this. Their dog has had like one set of shots according to the breeder. I'm not sure if the breeder documented it or if they have vet documentation. Of course, since they already booked a hotel they would have to pay for it anyways so they're coming. Now they want us to come and hang out at their hotel. Again, I don't want to go over there all night just to listen to DH's mom and sister talk sh!t about their coworkers even though no one else in the rooms knows who they're talking about. I just don't know what to do at this point because they insist on coming because of the hotel room.

  • They're staying at a hotel but dumping the dog on you at your house?

  • I'd have a migraine. Or stomach flu. Malaria. Something.

  • No they're keeping their dog at the hotel because I stuck to my guns. I'm about to just stay home and not care if it starts some kind of drama.

    Yes, malaria. I have malaria.
