Beauty Sampling Subscription - Your favorite?

I'm considering subscribing to a beauty sampling program(Birchbox or similar) and was hoping to get a list of programs to look into.  If you can link me to a list or suggest your favorite program, I'd really appreciate it.  Thanks.  =)

Re: Beauty Sampling Subscription - Your favorite?

  • I've only done Birchbox & MyGlam and I like Birchbox much better. In all honestly I'm probably going to cancel Birch in a few months too though. I usually only use one or two of the products and I've never reordered anything in full size.

  • I have MyGlam and Birchbox.

Birchbox is a much more established, stable company. They have excellent customer service and are very quick to fix any problem. Their boxes are generally pretty good. I also like their points system. If you buy the yearly membership for $110, you get 110 points. If you then review all of your box products every month, you can get up to 50 additional points. You also get 50 points for every friend you refer. Over a  year, you should earn at least 700 points, which can be redeemed for $70 worth of product, or your membership for the next year. That's a lot of math, but it works out to be $3.33 or less net cost per month.

MyGlam is very new. They have had some high-end, excellent products, but also some major flops. They have no rewards system and lack-luster customer service. They are starting to work out the kinks now, and it has gotten a little better.

I have fun with both bags, but if I could only keep one, it would be Birchbox.

I've also heard good things about BeautyFix, but haven't tried them yet.

How do you go about doing reviews? I haven't seen anywhere to do that.

You go to your "box" tab and you see the products that were in your box for the month. Click on the product and you will see a "Give Feedback" button.

  • I subscribe to MyGlam.  They are very new and have quite a few issues to iron out.  That said, I really do think it's going to be good.  They listen to subscriber feedback and I'm thrilled with this month's bag.  I also like their facebook community, where they have give aways and discussions about the products in the bags (Birchbox has this, too).
  • How long does it normally take for them to extend an invitation after you submit a request to join Birchbox?
