Second kid and AW about my BFF (PR)

So my best friend K (who lives in Canada) had her baby girl last night after 21 hours of labor. Her labor started at 4:30am on the 13th and K was so excited b/c she wanted a Friday the 13th baby so badly (K and her H got married on a Friday the 13th) but Baby took her time and arrived at 1:15am today, so no Friday the 13th. Everyone is perfect, healthy and happy and I am so excited for her, since this is her rainbow baby and everything went SO easily for her this time around and her labor & delivery were easy and "boring" albeit long.

Basically this takes me back to how much I enjoyed (yes ENJOYED) my pregnancy with DD and her L&D (but I hated postpartum recovery, that part sucked!) and I want to do it all again right this second. Talk me down! DD is a handful between her reflux and her quickly increasing mobility (she's gone form army crawling to hands a knees crawling in a WEEK) but here I am saying "I'd love to do it all again tomorrow..." Tell me I'm crazy!!! (Becuase I know I am haha)

Anyone else who had kids recently crazy enough to be thinking about Kiddo #2?

Re: Second kid and AW about my BFF (PR)

  • I am personally going to say you aren't crazy :)

We are TTC now-  and if we want two, we are going to have to have them super close together (since I'm upper 30s)

One of my best friends had two in under a year!  She's exhausted some of the time, but they are happy (the kids are about 19 months & 8 months old right now).

My brother's kids are 18-20 months apart (3 of them, now 15, 13.5 & 12), and yes their lives were a little hectic- but I personally think it's great that they are so close in age (since my siblings are 7-13 years older than me!)

  • We aren't trying yet, but  want them close together. I only want 2, but I want them to be 2 years (or less maybe) apart. My older brother is 2.5 years older than me, and it was nice being close in age, especially now that we are older.

  • Haha, Ellen, thanks. *if* we were pregnant right this second, we would have kids 15 months apart and that's too close for me!! Plus I want to graduate by December and not put it off again, so I know it isn't an option to try for at least 3 more months at the absolute EARLIEST, haha. We are thinking maybe next year of trying for another, it's just so hard, I get baby fever all over again when I see a brand new baby!

Good luck to you and your H with TTC, hopefully it is a short wait for you!

  • Yes you're crazy :-)

Just kidding of course-people have babies close in age all the time and it works out, and it's all about what is best for you, your hubby, and Sammy.  If you want kids close in age by all means do it!

My sister had her first two 17 months apart and they did just fine.  Now she has an 8 year old, 7 year old, almost 5 year old, and is pregnant with #4, now that's crazy!!!!

Cole just turned 4 months old and it is getting so much easier now, once they start sleeping more and interacting more it is definitely easier to start imagining a #2.  And since my sister and a friend just announced pregnancies and are both due right around Cole's 1st birthday I did start to feel nostalgic, but I am soooo not ready.  For us personally we want a minimum of 2 years in between kids but more likely closer to 3-3.5 years.  That is only because I think I would be way too overwhelmed with two real little ones, and ideally it'd be nice to get Cole out of diapers before we have another.  Plus I kind of want Cole to get our full attention for a while before adding another little on into the mix.

  • Haha Daisy, I know all that....I just feel like I got smacked in the face with baby fever round two....and this is after a WEEK of 2-3 wake ups a night! I just must be insane, hahaha.

  • yeah baby fever is a strong thing-and the only prescription is more babies lol.

Good luck with whatever you decide :-)

  • Daisy - haha. Hoping I can keep it under control for a while I'm not ready to give up carbs and sugar yet (best way to not get GD again is to go right back on the diet when you get KU)....

    Thanks :)
