What do you think makes a lady looker "older" before her time?
Is it hair, makeup, clothes? Please fill me in.. I have posted about this before someone saying i looked OLDER but again yesterday someone asked me yesterday if I was my moms sister. My mom is 54 she looks good but has quite a few wrinkles she is not what I would call a young looking 50 year old. COME ON!!!! what is making me look old, no wrinkles no sagging skin.... WHAT IS IT?????

Re: looking old
Post a picture and we can help more...
I know a girl who is my age - 28 - and seriously looks about 10 years older! OK... fine... maybe 8. It has to do with her haircut, hair color and her makeup.
If you don't have wrinkles or sagging skin, it must be hair, makeup, and/or clothes.
I had a guy ask me the other day if I was my son's grandmother. He said he couldn't tell if I was his mom or grandma. WTF. I'm 32 and my kid is 2.
Post a pic if you want honest critique.
I had a friend who when I met her I thought she was 35-40 at least, and she was 27. She wore a LOT of makeup (heavy, like Tammy Fay Baker), and did really BIG hair every day, and just dressed like a "cougar" for lack of a better term. I was shocked to find out how young she was, and all of my friends also thought she was much older than she really was.
I think heavy makeup can make you look older. Like too much eyeliner can make your eyes look smaller/squint-y looking. Too much blush, or blush in an unflattering shade that's too dark for your skin. Unflattering lip shade. Even just heavy foundation can make your skin texture look harsher than it really is.
It could also have to do with your hair color, cut, or your wardrobe.
Post a photo if you'd like some feedback, those are sort of general things I can think of though. And I'm sorry you have to hear those comments, that really sucks and I'm sure is not fun to hear.

I'm sure you look nothing like your mom's sister. That was just rude of someone to say (no offense to your mom!)
I agree with the PP...sometimes things like too much makeup, a less-than-flattering hairstyle, the wrong color or style clothing/accessories can contribute to age. Also, sometimes stress and whatnot can do it. If you post a pic we might be able to help you make some tweeks to help you look your best. It's usually something small rather than a total overhaul.
I told you before that I had a friend who styled herself straight out of the early '90s with frosted blonde highlights and heavy eyeliner and heavy makeup generally. She also lived in mom clothes. I also told you that when she got a little makeover and got a chic bob dyed brown and got new clothes, and had a bday on Facebook with her age posted, I about fell off my chair with how young she looked and called all our friends saying, "Did you know Name is our age?!" I truly thought she was 15 years older than the rest of us.
My friend is super pretty now and, really, all it was was her hairstyle, mom jeans, and frosted eyeshadow. All really easy fixes. Post a pic and we'll help

Maybe it was meant as a compliment to your mom but it came out wrong?
If you get that you look older, I agree with all pp, maybe it's the hair, make up, clothing and accessories (shoes and handbags, and jewelry and watch) all can make someone look older than what they are.
You may just need a make over to look younger, new make up and make up tricks, a fresh hair cut and color and an appointment with a personal shopper at Nordstrom, ....
Frumpy clothing is the biggest reason. Any woman wearing wide leg capri jeans, a t shirt and "sensible" sandals or sneakers is going to appear old.
Hair style is also a big one. If your style is outdated you'll look older. Sometimes shorter "mom"-ish cuts will do the same thing.
This is a good thought. Are you misunderstanding comments? I hear people say all the time to a mother-daughter duo, "Oh, you look like you could be sisters!" Everyone understands that that's a compliment to the mom and that it says nothing about the daughter.
Are you only hearing that you look old when you're with your mom? If so, then I bet you're just misunderstanding the compliment to your mother.
Now we need a photo of you and your mom if you can find one.

I wondered the same. Several times people have commented on my mom and I looking like sisters, in order to flatter my mom. Both of us roll our eyes and think the person is full of bull.
Not all short hair is bad at ALL but it's the style of hers.
