Mad Men 4/15 - possible spoilers
best episode of this season so far!
wow lane, i didn't know you had it in you!
poor pete...he's a mess!
Re: Mad Men 4/15 - possible spoilers
I agree, best episode of the season so far. I loved it! I'd kind of forgotten about Ken Cosgrove's writing...
I literally fist-pumped on my couch when Lane got in a few good punches to Pete. LOVED IT. Team Lane all the way.
I'd be interested to know what the root of Pete's... angst... is. Did his mother not like him or something? Gah, he's such a POS.
I would have liked to see how the office re-adjusted to Joan's return to work. There could have been some great scenes where she dressed-down out of line secretaries. I wonder how long she'll wear her wedding set/ pretend that she's still married?
Don really is turning a new leaf. I feel like I go back and forth with every episode as to if the Don/ Megan marriage will really work, but this one made me feel like they were very secure. Don would have never let Betty drive him home after too many drinks.
Of course, it's only an hour-long episode, so they couldn't squish in enough Peggy and Betty for me. While I understand Peggy's continued frustration with not being "one of the boys," I was kind of annoyed with her continuing to pick at it. Lady is developing a serious chip on her shoulder.
Overall, best of the season for sure!
regarding pete, i get the feeling that the life he has isn't as great as he thought it would be OR the life he has was chosen for him. either way, it doesn't seem to be a good fit for him. he seems out of place and bored. you know what they say...idle hands do the devil's work...
i know i really liked this episode b/c betty's absence didn't phase me at all (i usually look forward to her scenes).
still not a fan of don and megan together.
Just when I start to like Pete he goes back to his old ways. I thought it was funny when got excited when he saw the baby and then wanted his own. I also thought it was funny when the women wee so impressed that he fixed the sink.
and of course "He had chewing gum on his pubis!"
hilarious!
Wow, the fight between Pete and Lane was awesome! I think this is my favorite scene from th whole series. I loved Roger's remark and Don pulling the drapes. Pete had it coming for a long time.
This episode was so good! I also think it was one of the funniest MM episodes ever. Between the chewing gum line, Roger's typical one-liners, the look on all of their faces before the fight (and drawing the curtain), etc. I also loved "Nope. Nope. Okay." Hah.
I'm curious about Don & Meghan. I don't know, I feel like all of Don's misgivings stopped really abruptly, and it seems hard to just never bring them up again. They were such a huge part of the show. On the other hand, they are obviously at least making it look like he's going to make it with Meghan - which mostly makes me wonder if there is something about Meghan we don't know, or something she does, rather than something Don does.
Is Pete the new Don?
Following that path that looks great but isnt fulfilling...?
And who called Joan and Lane? You were right
Pete will never be Don. But he's sure trying his best to act like the old Don.
I'm still not sure how much I like this new Don. He gave up his crown and is taking a back seat, watching everyone else pull shenanigans. How long will this last?
I was just telling DH that with the commute home on the train, getting home later, etc. he is sort of turning into Don.
Although the Joan & Lane kiss skeeved me out, I was glad to see it and see it fizzled. The thought of the two of them together is no bueno.
This episode was so weird. I'm used to everything being really subtle on Mad Men and the last two episodes were so over the top.
Lane and Pete - well, everyone in the office has wanted to punch Pete so I'm glad someone finally did it. Still thought the scene was weird and semi weird that no one stopped it (again, everyone wanted to do it...but still). Not sure what the dynamic in the office will be like after this one.
Lane and Joan - I knew it was going to happen eventually, but I'm glad Joan put a stop to it.
Trudy - I love Trudy. She deserves so much better. I don't get what Pete's deal is - early mid-life crisis? You've got everything and it's not what you thought it would be? I don't know. I was honestly a little scared for the prostitute in the bedroom scene - I thought Pete was going to get violent for a second.
The final scene with Pete blubbering in the elevator was just pathetic.
A few final thoughts: Megan's yellow dress was so cute. I thought she looked great. And the plaid sportscoats in the suburbs scene burned my eyes!

We were dying laughing at the sportscoat. My H said "and he is the cool one".
The suits are all great, but thankfully, their casual wear hasnt made a comeback. Well, that coat.
Mommy's little helper
I'm guessing Megan can't (or maybe just doesn't want to) have a baby. She was all weird when Joan brought her baby to the office, and we were supposed to think she didn't like Joan because of her hotness or whatever, but I think she didn't want to hear all the "you're next!" stuff because she either can't or won't be next.
Part of me thinks Lane made the pass at Joan because he isn't sure if he is straight or gay. He got so heated after Pete said that client thought Lane was gay...who knows!
Loved this episode!
I agree. I'm not sure I'm into the new Don. When he was with Betty I kept hoping for him to pull his sh!t together. Now I'm almost wanting him to go back to his old ways. It's odd with him being the one who's all put together. And I'm not sure if I like Megan or not.
LOVED the fight with Lane and Pete. So funny when they started pulling the drapes and just let it happen. He definitely had it coming, the little tool.
I was very intrigued by this! Not sure I like Don and Megan together, but I was impressed with Don for staying faithful while everyone else was ho-ing it up.
Lane isn't gay... He dated a Playboy bunny and creepily stole a picture of a woman out of a random guy's wallet.
I love the way Joan handled that situation with Lane. You think she is going to walk out of the room and she doesn't. She sits back down next to Lane and he apologizes. She tells him not to feel bad.... everyone in the office has wanted to punch Pete. Love.
Trudy deserves better. Pete is pathetic.
I love me some Ken Cosgrove.
