Dominican Republic during September- am I out of my mind?
DH and I are beginning to plan our anniversary trip. Due to work schedules, we've realized that going for an extended trip over labor day weekend would work best.We haven't done a land-based trip for quite some time (aside from our wedding) and we're leaning toward an AI in D.R.
Are we out of our minds doing a land-based trip during the peak of hurricane season? We've cruised the last 3 labor day weekends, and knock on wood we haven't had to be diverted due to storms, but we did cruise the week after the storms last year, which did have a small impact on our touring.
Convince me one way or another on this... I'm riding the fence

Re: Dominican Republic during September- am I out of my mind?
this exactly
My DH and I went to Jamaica in September and it rained one day for about 20 minutes, otherwise it was sun, sun, and more sun. The weather is chaotic as it is so you can never really predict what will happen, but be prepared with trip insurance as a PP mentioned. Also, I think that some parts of the island tend to get less of a hit than other parts, so maybe look more towards that area. But again, you can never know what the weather has in store. I say go for it.
