Changing your name
What document did you use to prove your divorce? I have a certified copy of my divorce decree but it's like 11 pages long. I am not going to show this to my bank, DMV, work....Isn't there a 1 page document saying something like "LandOBiscuit is divorced as of {date}" ?

I didn't have any separate name change paperwork, it was just part of my divorce decree.
I think I just made a copy and highlighted it on the two relevant pages and brought those wherever needed.
This is what I did too.
It should be the page that clearly indicate that you are changing your name. Mine actully had a stamp on it with a signature from the judge.
My state doesn't issue divorce certificates anymore, so I had to bring in a certified copy of my judgement. It shows both names and has all of the offical stamps they look for.
I don't know if they do this everywhere, but the Social Security office I went to had very strict security, to say the least. I walked in and was immediately greeted by two armed guards, who demanded to know why I was there and ordered me to hand over my purse and empty my pockets. I hadn't been in a SS office in over a decade and wasn't expecting this and I guess I didn't move fast enough, because one of the officers (state patrol maybe?) snatched my purse out of my hands and emptied the contents into a plastic bin before sending it on the conveyor belt. They repeatedly asked me why I was there and if I had anything in my pockets, even though the only pockets I had were on my coat, which they were holding. They also patted me down after I walked through the metal detector, even though it didn't sound an alarm. One of the officers finally handed me my belongings and a ticket with a waiting number on it and told me to sit down. While I was waiting, I was trying to get everything organized in my purse again and one of the officers came up behind me, leaned over my shoulder, and told me to stop in a VERY stern voice. I'm glad I didn't have to wait too long, because I couldn't get out of there fast enough.
My decree is 2 pages long. It just says everything in my separation agreement is now court ordered and that my name reverted back to my maiden name. I was able to use that. My separation agreement is something like 25 pages long.
I didn't have a certified copy of my decree because my courthouse charges $30 to certify something (how ridiculous is that!). I was able to take my birth certificate to DMV to change my name. They said if you're going back to your maiden name you don't need anything but your BC. I'm sure it's different in different states but that made it super easy for me.
